King of Bling

Hi. I'm not done with it...it needs strings, I think, if anybody has some. Bass too loud?

Hi Chris. Nice tune. Excellent voice.....very cool. Just enough grit for my liking.... :D

Bass might have some buildup...not sure. Between the guitar, something is getting a bit muddy at times. You might have to lop off some highs from teh bass, and some lows from the guitar. Not sure. Maybe bring both instruments down a few DB and see what happens.

Tune is very cool. Nice one.

Dude...very very helpful, thanks a lot!!!

Yeah Dogman's right about bottom end.
The bass is a bit boomy - roll off some of the bottom & tweak a few dBs at 3kHz - it clashes with the strong open chords as well.
Cut from the guitars some of the same area you boost in the bass.
then experiment a bit.
Lovely song, the mix will be fine once you've done some EQing.
Great work Chris.

Wow! Who's singing? It's wonderful! Is it Jamie? Wow! Wow! Wow!

I luv u, Chris Harris, you old mango, you!

The bass seems to be a bit boomy in the intro, but becomes less noticeable as the song progresses - maybe I'm just getting used to it.
Another excellent tune Chris - always impressed by the performances by Jamie and her BetterOffDad....

:) :D :) :D

Excellent tune Chris........great vocals, arrangement is top notch, the bass is a bit loud and seems to clash here and there but, other than that...great stuff, I had the system cranked and managed to get the wife in the studio to see who was singing....she says it was very good!!!!

Cool, I don't think that the bass is too loud at all, the vocals come across quite clear.

I was hoping that you would be willing to let me use some of your songs on my podcast project (there are a couple of threads on it around here). If so which ones?

You are more than welcome to use whatever you want, and I appreciate your asking.

Now, there are a few that are on our myspace page and/or garageband page that aren't on our website yet. For example, for a rocker...you might want to go with "Fall Away," which is on our GB page here: http://www.garageband.com/artist/betteroffdad

hell...I'm just going to upload a lot to our gb page...it's easier. Thanks for asking.

jpw23 - he man, thanks a ton. I love it when people take the time to actually turn a mix UP to listen. I keep thinking that chromatic run will work when I get the fiddle in, but we'll see, lol.

ido1957 - Yeah, I know what you're talking about... it seems to totally dominate the mix until the vocal comes in, and then it seems to fit better...Not sure how to fix that, but I did take rayc's advice and cut some of the low low low end off of the bass; and I took some of the low mids out of the acoustics, and it seems better. thanks very much

apl - lol; yes, that's my daughter. She wrote this one last week. Thanks for the kudos man.

rayc - bingo. Yeah, thanks. It's getting closer. It's funny but true that getting a new vehicle has slowed down my mixing...I've never relied as much on my monitors as I have on the "car test." Well, I gave my car to my daughter because she got her license, and now my car is a Ford F-150 with a ridiculously hyped low end...I can't tell anything in that ride. Anyway...thanks.
