knowing formulas wont help you write a hit song -

its called talent.....

Seems there was a thread recently about how hit songs are derived from formulas. Most are crap, but nevertheless, they are hit songs.

I was told recently I had a good song..but-The intro was to long, and the song needed to be cut down to 3:23, to fit the "Formula". You have to get to the chorus within 45 seconds. Well, I took the same song, changed it to fir just because, and the same idiot said it sounded like I was trying too hard. I guess being a music critic is tough work. I figure if someone actually paid for something I did, they would have to be locked up.

Anybody can experiment with music. Its about getting recognition and getting paid for your ideas that counts.
