Hi everyone
Im a UNI student in production. I need to find out a little more about the tecnical aspects of the recording of A Perfect Circle's Thirteenth Step. I have an essay to write on the production techniques used. If anyone know where I might find some more technical info on this it would be cool.

Also, if anyone knows the album........can you please help me to explain the gate/distant like sound one his kit in The Noose and Pet.

Ahhhh...what a great CD that is. Great band and great recording. Don't know where you can find info on it though....i'm sure you've already tried their website.

The drum technique however is just an EQ filter that slowly changes during the first couple of minutes.

yeah...ive looked all over the net. I found some stuff in a guitar magazine interview with Billy Howerdel, he takled a bit about his Tools HD system....which helped me heaps, but im looking for things like mic lists and placements.....EQing / comp/ gates/ time modification etc.

yeah i really doubt you're going to find that info anywhere unless you are able to contact the engineer. you're also going to find some people don't want to give away how they mixed an album or miced an album. Not all people, but some are not as generous because they see it as a business and they feel the need to keep a competitive edge over other people. If all your techniques were posted on the web, then what makes you unique anymore?
