Just kidding! That would be ridic...hm..actually...

just kidding. that would be ridiculous.

My house isn't big enough for an analog computer, although somehow Spock made that cool tricorder in that Harlan Ellison episode....:D

I just realized that the tricorder with tubes is still digital....:spank:

I just ordered a Digidesign open reel deck on eBay. Some real nice guy named tapeandtape sold it to me, said I was getting a good deal.

I was thinink of getting rid of all my high-end tube guitar amps...

Put the sweater back on, ez...it'll make you feel and is a sure-fire way to win people over... :laughings::D:):p

hey, brudda! same old same old. been recording a LOT lately. finally switched to reaper. figured out how to get workable drum sounds, then recorded 4 songs worth. moved on to guitar tracks for those same 4 songs last week. it'll go quicker from here on out. bought a '79 LP a few weeks back and it made me LOVE playing guitar again. blah blah blah...

whatchu up to? other than not being here wasting time?

I like Reaper. Paid the $60 for the license I liked it so much.

A '79 LP huh? Nice. My dad has a '78 that has been sitting in his closet for about 20 years. I've been trying to talk him out of it. I think I'm wearing him down. The wife bought me a MIM Strat as a "wedding" gift to tide me over in the meantime.:p

I've actually started taking guitar lessons (finally), so I've been trying to set aside a few minutes here and there to practice. Kinda rough with a 3 year old boy and a wife who is a charge nurse at a hospital; I never know when I will have any free time. Maybe now I will actually have something worth recording, since I have all of this equipment sitting here going to waste.:D

Oh yeah, got married last month and went to Isla Mujeres for a week for the honeymoon. Awesome!

You'll have to post up links to the tunes when you get 'em finished bro. Good luck with 'em!:drunk:

Well

Yeah man, REAPER is great. It convinced me that i could actually like using a digital recording program, and they keep making it better and better. And you can make it look however you want which is a big deal to me since staring at a grey or silverish UI makes me feel like my creativity has already passed me by and im in the "solo project + beard" phase of my music career already. You know the kind. Where the artist is supposedly pushing his boundaries but really he just ran out of decent ideas. Im not ready to admit that i have no more good ideas for at least a few more years still. Then ill gladly go solo and grow my beard. But until then i need some color in my digital recording program UI.

Hey EZ if you ever do go all analog, youll really need to dip into all that Mighty Ducks money to keep it all running.

i don't have to. i could just drive up and down a few streets and pick up the scattered remnants of a full fledged analog studio. :p

I'll tell ya what, I won't debate that digital has analog beat when it comes to price, versatility, and flexibility for sure (I'm not going to debate sound because that's pointless), but with regards to ease of use, analog has digital beat all over the place.

I've spent the past few weeks trying to transfer from Mackie Tracktion 3 (because it was just way too buggy) to Nuendo 2.0 (friend gave me a brand new unopened package) and/or Reaper because of various unresolved problems with Nuendo. And I still can't get Reaper to recognize AmpliTube 2 for some reason (even though I had no problem getting it to recognize all my other plugs).

Drivers this, and wireless connections that, and blah blah blah. I suppose (or would hope) that the problems may be less if I were on a Mac instead of PC, but I'm poor and so chose PC. But man ... what a f*ckin' pain in the ass!

At least with analog stuff, using it is pretty clear cut.

I've thought about going all digital

but I can't seem to get a decent vocal out of the woman in red dress before she turns into that damn agent Smith.
