i wasn't trying to offend....i'm just relaying what dudes that mix for U2 and what not say, they don't own the studios have no money in any perticular equipment thus have no bias and i've done the test myself..recording a drum sound at 24/96 and lettin it play from the equipment and there is a diff...not to say u can't do something wit computer recording but it takes a heck of alot longer to make it sound good...

You will find lots of diff opinions on quality and equip. If you have the ear to develope though PC recording is a good way to go. I spent more on one demo than it cost to get a good basic setup for home recording. And coming from a guy who has done the 4track I can tell you the diff is amazing and you can buy the same stuff the pros use for software. The thing with big time artists is that they are subject to the talent in the booth. You can have a very good tech on crappy stuff and sound good and visa versa.
Talent is the key. Listen to the studios prev projects and inquire on the money that was spent to do them, You will see a tie betweeen the money and the quality.

good luck on your project.

I keep hearing emagic is the way to go as well and everyone can not be wrong. The thing is that I hear it in regards to is audio not midi. Cakewalk it way to focused on midi for me I would like a program set up around audio my self. I also have to say though that the audio side of cakewalk is not to shabby. I am pretty happy with it compared to some of the stuff I have seen in pro studios. I just wish they would make a audio geared promram.

i'm def not dissappointed wit cake i'm in love wit it...hence the title, but if these fuckas @ sony like my joints i think i'm going analog...that has the best response

THe guy at this studio suggested i used cubase cuz its format compat wit pro tools....but i don't really wanna learn a new software or leave my beloved cakewalk...are the any suggestions for transferring projects from sonar to pro tools?

The difference between Pro Tools audio and Cakewalk/Sonar audio is PT uses the .aiff format which is MAC,S audio and Sonar uses .wav files Microsofts audio file.

To transfer your Cake projects to PT you will need to convert
all of your tracks to the .aiff format then dumped each track on a CD or external Hard drive, then reload them one by one into PT.
Make sure that each track has a start reference point soo that you can aligned them in PT.

You can use Sound Forge to convert your .wavs to .aiff (i believe
not 100 perecent sure).

Good Luck!

cube use

check whether pro will accept midi0 or midi one save cw to
