Barefoot "Interesting" is very subjective!...LOL
I'm a old fart...To me Radio Head is interesting.
Surprise well....Tell me something cool to listen too,
I'm all ears!

Oh, there's just so much. But, the first names that come to the top of my head are Andrea Parker and David Morley. They're a couple and both create deep, driving, slower tempo electronica using mainly vintage equipment.

Parker's "Kiss My Arp" disc is just outstanding. The track "Melodious Thunk" is too cool for words.

Morley's "Tilted" disc can only be described as gargantuan. Tracks like "Biology" and "Shining" are bone crushing.

Sorry, I don't have any place to post more samples.

It's all where you look.

look at Creeds album "my own prison" Every aspect of the album is exelent if you like thier music. The production and mix is some of the best I've ever heard. To me it's new. And It has chords.

Ya I don't like rap or trance much but there is plenty of other stuff coming out. Hell look at the swing revival a few years ago.

I guess is you are saying new styles of music I could agree with you some. But not just new music in general.

i can't say i've found much of the music i've listened to that was produced in the last 2 years either interesting or innovative.....except for maybe radiohead and a few others.......i dunno, maybe i've been listening in the wrong places.

to conclude this topic
after i been experimenting with modern electronic style
i think i can't blame them at all
with those blaring sounds of PHAT analog synthsounds
me too can't do thick harmony with them
that leads them to do sparse harmony music i think
BTW just do it at your best
PS
i also posted new tune at
www.mp3.com/istyle
reanemoid.mp3
i think i try sneak in as much harmony as i could with analogPHATsounds
please proove it :)
thnx

istyle,

Man, why didn't you just post your music and ask for criticism from the start? Then I wouldn't have to feel guilty about turning my thumb so far down it's sticking in the dirt.

I don't want to completely slam you. Hearing the way you play your synths, you obviously have a lot of talent. I just question your taste. I listened carefully to all of your tracks and I wouldn't describe anything about them as being phat.

I'm not the biggest fan of techno, but it's not as if it can't be done well. The Chemical Brothers, for example, have put out some incredibly PHAT techno style music. Why don't you hold up guys like this as your model, rather than generic, soulless, euro disco techno pop?

p.s. Sorry if I've come off too harsh. I'm finding it difficult to find my gentler words in light of recent events.
:(

I have a qs8 with 640? presets. I have yet to edit one of my own and thats probably why I haven't many phat sounds. It seemed like in the old days when you had to really get into editing and parameters and such, you worked hard at it and came up with really phat sounds. Then again Im not really a keyboard player so maybe thats why I rely on my factory presets??

Yeah, but..................

Ya still cant beat an E minor palm mute cranked up to about 8 or 9 on a good Marshall stack, now can ya???? LOL Steve

thnx barefoot
the reason that my music has no PHATsounds is that i don't have any analog synth, got only QS8 and trinity
but most of all is that i'm still an amateur pursuing his dream
improving my producing technic up from scratch
i know my mp3 there can't compete with pro's right now
but one day i hope it can

istyle,

Actually I thought the sound quality was good. My criticism is directed at your stylistic choices rather than your equipment or production capabilities. To me it sounds like you have quite a lot of underlying talent, but maybe you're just not familiar with much of the truly great electronic music out there.

When I use the word "Phat" I'm not only speaking of a particular sound quality, I'm also talking rhythm, groove, depth..... soul.

I hope don't sound patronizing. I struggle myself to create music which I feel has depth and at least a small piece of the profound. It's not easy.

There are too many to name, but off the top of my head here are just a few examples of electronica recordings I hold as iconic:

Hardkiss - Delusions of Grandeur
David Morley - Tilted
LTJ Bukem - Earth 3
Saafi Brothers - Mystic Cigarettes
Chemical Brothers - Exit Planet Dust
Layo & Bushwacka! - Low Life
Jenö - Emotion Electrique
Cypress Hill - Black Sunday
Kruder & Dorfmeister - K&D Sessions
Metro Recordings - Level 01
Pork Records - Sty Wars
Future Sound of London - ISDN
Adam Freeland - Tectonics

I've tried to include music from various genres. I'm sure I've forgotten many very important ones.

peace :)

they still tune drums don't they?

It sounds like we all need a mental enema. It is the rythm, always has been the rythm, and will always be the rythm that is the "G" spot of melody. INMHO

What you listen to makes a difference.

I used to think that 'modern' music really just means knowing how to sample, loop and chain patterns because that's what all the local stations puke out all day. Then I discovered internet radio stations dedicated to certain genres only, and I immediately understood that there is still a lot of good music being churned out in a traditional way. You just have to look for it.

with the advance technology we now have electronic music with so distinct sounds of percussion they are so clear that we have to throw away our precious arranging technics in order not to get in their ways?
i don't hear chords in nowaday music, just lot of percussion with here and there stabs of soundclip
Am i the only one?

HUMMMMMM Well I don't think so.
