I hear you man but hold your head up high, in the world of guitars you know the best are the "old and beat up"
Nothing else comes close.

I do think that old guitars sound better! I think it's because the wood has had time to dry fully.

Guitar "visuals" seem to be over the top anymore. I think that quilted maple is about the uglyest thing I've ever seen. Just give me an old tobacco sunburst.[

Over the top? And you are known as a Firebird? That is about the biggest axe ever created by man. Now, I know you are gonna say it is a reference to a vehicle, but this is a music BBS the inference is obvious. You are a closet big guitar guy aren't you!

:p

You're right. I do play a Firebird guitar, but I'm very tall and it fits me.

You're right it does. I was just giving you a hard time cause you said that quilted maple was "too over the top". Cool photo though.

well,

discussion is one thing.

im not certain i understand

what hearing(music) has to
do with seeing (visual entertainment)

is there anyone here that cant enjoy
that favorite note in a song as much with
their eyes closed, as they do with visual
additives?

the tide of opinion stems against me...

std disclaimer: this is not an attack on the artist
mentioned below, just a reference from a 1990's
edition of a popular guitar magazine...

"Hootie and the Blowfish, proof that, Yes,
10 million people Can be wrong."

Peace, =)

yeah your right about hootie and the motherfucking blowfish (i'm quotin' max cavalera here....)

but then again; do you ever go to a concert? why? Do the notes sound different with the added visuals? YES THEY DO!!!

it's all about perception...

I agree, when you're recording it's about the music. But, when you're play out, it's about the show.

People don't go out to hear a band, they go out to SEE one.

And while music is separate both audibly and visually, they can either work together or completely contradict one another. That is the beauty of it. So by stating that they have nothing to do with one another, you are only looking at one half of the equation. For example, have you ever heard a song and developed a mental image of its performer and then been totally shocked when you see who it was coming from. I know that I have. Like when a Heavy Metal artist sits down and blasts out a beautiful classical piece while still representing that hardened metal image, that invokes a much different sensation than if the piece had been played by someone that looks like they should be playing it. Same song, different visual emotions.

Even if it sounds good... it's a terrible visual!!!
I don't think that anyone would use such guitar on the stage!
