There will be a mic shoot-out at the "6TH ANN HR.COM JAM/RECORDING/BBQ/BEER FEST !!"

August 11-13th in Andover, Connecticut!

We will be performing side by side tests and comparisons of SP's, AKG's AT's, Nuemanns, Oktava's, Shure's, Beyer-Dynamics etc.(we prev'ly performed this mic-shootout at JAMFEST1 back on July of 2000 but a smaller version). A host of performances both electric & acoustic will be part of this mic shootout and 2-track recordings will be made!

Sign up by hittming me with a pm or email!

Peace

That's a long trip for someone out here! :(

Someone needs to organize a left-coast jamfest for people on this side of the continental divide.

I'm bringing the Green Bullet

Excellent but beware; I've seen HomeReccers riot and rumble with each other to play on the amp mic'd by the Green Bullet!! :p :p ;) :D :D :p

You would be surprised at the perf results certain condensors & dynamics we've used at prev JAMFEST's that differed from what most would normally recognize. This annual event is perf'md and recorded "live" where every, single
amp, acoustic git and vocalist is mic'd via a wide array of uni's, omni's, fixed-large/small/hyper/single/dual-cardiod condensors to hi & lo/supercardiod to cardiod patterned, dynamic mics. 1 minute your amp is mic'd with a S-57, the next a CAD M-39 in either Fig8 or omni position.
At JAMFEST1, we had 7 acoustic git'ists (LI SLim, TreeLine, Dragonworks, PGlewis, drstawl,Upstate Steve & D. Johnson/Crappy Beatle) who jammed "live" w. vocs, together on several songs mic'd with an Oktava, an MXL C-1000 and an AT4033 (in triangular formation) and the results from these 3 lo-mid level condensors were on point! All 3 mics (in tandem) provided "team-work" like assistance to what 1 mic may have lacked in perf or quality while enhancing the other's capture and translation (which made my job of 2-trk mixing a whole lot easier :o )

Besides the jamming, eating/drinking and chilling, the discussions and A/B/C'ing of various gear, another hi-point is UpstateSteve's amazing "12AX7" tube display!!! Dude will demonstrate (where your ears will actually learn) the diffs between warmth/color, gain-level variations, perf, etc. via his UNIQUE and wide collection of tubes! Homeboy, using a homemade, 5(maybe 10 max)
watt amp showed the diffs between a Philco, Motorola & Sovtek for ex., tube and how each provided it's own color, nuance and output (along with using various mics for comparison!). This is just a few of the many reasons attending JAMFEST6 will broaden your musical & recording horizon!

PHILGOURD....you gotta' come up with a better reason than that!!!

JAMFEST's has seen HomeReccers & RecProj'ers from as far as Europe (Roel from Belgium...I picked him from NYC's JFK airport 2 yrs in a row); England (Noisedude on the roster!), Canada (Bruce Blue Bear, vestast, Voxvendor/VoxxyBrown, Roland Saul,Chris Tondreau...with GHOST OF FM planning to attend....to name a few), South to Deep South (dtb, scrubs(Cyrokk,HangDawg, fenderlikingood), MidWest (Buck62,Stonepiano, JMarcomb)
LeftCoast/Cali(drstawl), FarNorth (Treeline, beezlebubba, VTGreen, Charva), MidAtlantic (Dafduc, Crappy Beatle, rats,BettyRumble & the Hulk) and even from the Far Eastern nation of Maslumia (Mustafa Salaam :D ). So as far as your excuse for it being too long a trip is not acceptable!!!! ;) :)

Yo Phil, (and any-1 else considering coming), attending JAMFEST is the PENULTIMATE experience in taking your luv of music & recording to a hi'er level! A chance you can put face to name, learn, teach, share, laugh, jam, chill and enjoy 1 wild-@ss yet peaceful weekend in a year! Do a "SEARCH" of prev JAMFEST threads; read the posts; check out the pics; listen to Lord-SoundMaster jgourd's recordings; pm, e-mail,text-chat or phone any HomeReccer or RecProj'er who has attended a JAMFEST and ask them about
thier experience(s)! I guarantee you that everyone will inform you it's well worth it! TRUST ME!

If you (and again, n-e 1 else) needs addtl details about JAMFEST6, please, don't hesitate to pm or eee me at anytime! :)

Peace

Hmmm...

I always thought there ain't no party like a left coast party cause a left coast party don't stop!!

Just trying to make things better.

Hey, since it's not that far a jaunt Mr.Q, maybe you could host it out here next year, instead of so conveiniently close to you. ;)

We've been trying to put together a JamWest but lack the property with electricity without the bitchy neighbors.

Any ideas?

We need a UK Jamefest!

There are enough Brits on this forum! C'mon guys, any takers?

What's the best mic to use at Jamfest, for under $3.00, while I'm drunk?

actually one of the prizes last year was the oktava 219 or 319 if i remember correctly.

I think we could drop a Nady in the toilet.

It'd be under water, but not under $3.00.

Do Nadys float?

This ain't no Left or Right Coast "party". It's an annual event for HomeReccers & RecProj'ers to get together and have fun. It just so happens
that it's held in Connecticut.

Just trying to make things better.

It's all good bruh' Philly! :)

Hey, since it's not that far a jaunt Mr.Q, maybe you could host it out here next year, instead of so conveiniently close to you. ;)

Yo' Philly-sneeze steak, you got it twisted!! :( The numero-uno reason that JAMFEST is held in Conn. is simply that NO ONE (other than LI SLIM; who hosted the 1st JAMFEST at his home in Westchester, NY) from HR or RecProj
offered to host this event except for longtime, talented HR/RP member FMahoganeyRush (Tom N) and his wife Kathy our most gracious hosts!!! :)
Numero-segundo, several members here have suggested having JAMFEST held in or close to thier locale yet never, EVER definitive!
Numero tres'; unless some-1 can find a location elsewhere that
has at the LEAST:

I)-Huge amount of space for folks to camp.
I)-Free parking.
III)-Privacy & Security. (dude, if U owned a diamond-encrusted, platinum-plated with 24K-gold HumBuckers, Les Paul original, U can leave it outside and never worry about it being damaged or stolen!)
IV)-A stream-lined, and bodacious hot-tub capable of providing soothing, relaxing & stress-relieving comfort for up to 6-7 folks at a time!!!
V)-Indoor & outdoor shower/bathing facilities.
VI)-A "GrillMaster 1000ZXQ-STEVE Deluxe" bbq/cooking oven located in it's own specially-designed area outdoors!
VII)-A HR/RecProj/FmRush-built stage for musicians.
and....................
VIII)-A liquor store right across the road!!!!!!!!!!
:D

Yo' home-slice, I can go on&on&on&on............... ;) , but that's just a FEW of the many plusses afforded to all who attend JAMFEST held at the home of our most gracious hosts, Tom"FmRush" & Kathy. Time after time, numerous members have given yeoman's effort in trying to organize either a "LeftCoast", "DurrtySouth", "MidWestern" "Euro" etc., JAMFEST-type event yet I can only think of 3 who were able to pull it off (dtb's "AcousticFest" in W.Va., Voxvendor/VoxxyBrown's "VoxFest" and Lt. Bob's "Bobfest").

Peep this Phil;...again, JAMFEST's Connecticut location was never picked to provide travelling "convenience" to Nor'Eastern members of HR/RecProj.
Just 1 member who was gracious (along with being INSANE  :D ) enuff to offer his home so that a buncha' "BBS" strangers can run ruff-shod, riot, rampage & eventually ROCK, on his property! :D

Like I said b-4, "It's too far" is a bogus excuse! JAMFEST has had folks from EVERY corner of the U.S., Canada & Europe in attendance. Those who wanted to come but couldn't make it were held back by either finances or scheduling conflicts, but never the wussified "It's too farrrr" :p !
Trust me brutha' if there's a chance you can attend, I'm tellin' you' this event is the guaranteed shizz-nit!!

Don't believe me!? PM or E-mail 1st-timer, jcmm (from the LEFTCOAST & who also bought along his wife ;) ) and just ask him! ;)

what's it like for first-timer's? i mean it sounds like a real good time but i'm afraid since i don't know anyone and i'm new on the forum, i'd probably just be hanging out in my own corner by myself or something. plus im a younger dude and i suck at playing guitar even though i love it, and i'm not a very good home rec'r. it sounds like it would be a great learning experience for me but i dunno man....

plus it would be a pretty expensive trip for me. plus i'd wanna bring my own guitars but they are probably like pieces of scrap wood compared to what you guys are gonna bring. :o

it's about cool people, that's it. not a competition, all kinds of cheap guitars, or no guitars, over 21 helps, there are no corners, you won't be alone unless you walk into the woods at night.... nobody knows anyone else, that's how this all started, that's the point, we didn't know eachother, after 1 minute you know people. you can leave, you can stay, you can eat or not or jam or not, there's acoustic jams around too, there's people there who can't play, never play, play well, show you stuff to play, young, old, family, friends, you're thinking too much, just come over and you'll love it, it's easy going.

my first one in 03, i was just passing thru on the way to my sister's house and i only stayed for 3 hours, i wanted more, but already had people waiting for me over there but the next 2 years I did 3 days, it's the best.
