I didn't know 1c was a dime. I thought it was 10c and a nickle was 5c followed by a quarter, a rapper and then a greenback.
Down here it was a farthing, a halfpenny, a penny, thrupence, a zac, a dina/shilling or bob, 2 bob, a sovereign , a 10 shilling note, a pound, there was a special name for 1 pound & one shilling but I can't recall, a fiver, a tenner, & not many folk went passed that.
After 14th Feb 1966 we went Amereecan and it was 1c, 2cs, a zac, bob, 5 bob, an oxford, 2 oxfords, a fiver, a tenner, a fifty but since we "floated" the economy its 5c, 10c, 20c, 50c, $1, $2, all of these as coin with these as "folding money" $5, $10, $20, $50, $100 & no change except for the value.
Guess who we blame for the devaluation of our cuurency & the loss of the little copper things?
