Sounds good. the vox are buried at times at the beginning, fine later. The guitar sounds a lil thin. It depends if you are trying to emulate the original, which is probably thin too.

Sounds very good, you capture the spirit of the tune. My main nit is the buried vocals.

I like it! I am at work so cant really critique mix, but, I thought the vocals sound great...especially the backing parts ...lead guitar does sound a bit distant and thin...I do like the kinda flangey sound on the intro guitar riff...Bass sounds cool. Curios as to what kinda guitars you used...I think I hear acoustic in there as well?
Burnin' this for the drive home today ;) !......

Nice job....it sounds pretty good. To me, you captured some of the original in this...some modern sounds, but the thinness of the guitars lends itself a bit to the era....

Nice job on the vocals...they could come up a bit, but they mesh pretty nicely, so..... :D

DavidK - Thanks for the listen. I'll give the vox a hard look once I've been away from it for a little while.

variaxman - thanks. There is an acoustic in there. I did all the main guitar tracks with my SG > Digitech RP300A > crappy practice amp > center close-mic'd with a 57 > Firepod. Bass was recorded direct. Acoustic was close @ 12th fret and room mic'd for one stereo acoustic track.

Thanks Dogman. :)

I'm honestly not really hearing this 'thinness' in the guitars. Is it the rhythms? Acoustic? Lead only? Do they just need to be louder? If yall could elaborate on it I'd greatly appreciate it. :)

Your covers are always great, man. I like this. Kept the old vibe, but a very modern feel. Great drums, too, sound and playing. Love your voice on this one.
Great job.

Actually, from me, the "thinness" is just that it's not super heavy distortion, and does not have a huge bottom end....not thin in a lack of recording, but more of a vintage sound. You know, Pantera sound, versus a Zep sound.

Rami - thanks a lot. Your drums are always outstanding, so I take that as a great compliment. :)

Dogman - Ah, I see. Thanks for your clarification. Yeah, I definitely was not going for a 'Pantera' type of guitar sound. IMO that wouldn't fit this song at all the way I had it in mind. I mainly shot for a sort of 70's style rock tone.

Cool tune Greg_L - not familiar with the original so I'll just say....
- it's got lots of groove/punch in the drumming
- the guitars are nice and raunchy and 'specially cool at the end where they come in out of the feedback...
- the main vocals are great and backup vocals are excellent :D

What are you using for vocal mic/processing?

Good Job!

:) :D :) :D

Thanks Ido. :)

I try to keep my vocals pretty simple because I don't know shit about real singing, but I always end up having to jack with them more than anything else. I use an AT2020 mic and the stock pre-amps in my Firepod. Once tracked, I just do the usual stuff - EQ, compression, reverb, etc. Usually I'll have to use a few volume envelopes here and there, but nothing crazy. The only 'trick' I do - if you can even call it that - is to duplicate the main vocal track and pan each track far to each side with a different reverb and slight delay time on each vocal track just to give it some depth.

For my backups, I pretty much just leave em alone and hang some fatter reverb and chorus effect on them.

Thanks for listening. :)

Sounds great Greg. The only thing that sticks out for me it the guitar sounds a bit harsh in the intro. Other than that I love it. One of my favorite Who tunes.

I loved this one!!!

I have no nit picks with the mix, the playing or anything.

I'm one of your biggest fans! Rock on, dude! ;)

(I'd like to produce som'n that's as good as your stuff, someday). ;)

Nice version!.

I particularly like the accoustic at the start of the verses. Guitars sound good and great job on the drums too

Cool cover. Sounds good here overall and I dig the vocals.
