Very, very cool John. Believe it or not, between stuff I've picked up at your site and my Master Handbook Of Acoustics (A. Everest) I'd come up with a simaler design that I'm going to build for the corner slat absorbers. The only difference I can see is the ones I can up with are about 4' wide, a bit wider that the ones in your drawing. I can't thank you enough for getting me pointed in the right direction.

John,
Thanks for posting these great designs!! Simple and effective- gotta love it.

I think I speak for many when I say the time and expertise you lend to this forum is greatly appreciated.

Thanks John, the detail you have supplied has answered some "nagging" questions I had.
Imperial or metric doesn't bother me.......I've dealt with both in my lifetime:) .

I know ausrock - same for me but it's the imperialists that aren't :):)

cheers

This is great stuff!! Thanks for your insight, John.

I am almost ready to begin constructing my wall units, so this post was very timely, as it is almost exactly what I was thinking about doing. I do have one small problem, though. The 2 back wall corners in my mixing room each have only 2 inches between the corner and some door trim for entry and closet doors. If I build something to just go above the doors in the corners, will it help enough to bother with? These corners have been bugging me for just this reason, not knowing quite how to handle them.

Anyway, thanks again.

DDev.....

Yes DDev - I recognise your problem. There's not much you can do it that situ other than maybe treat the doors with rigid fibreglass.

John, a quik question. The insulation in these particular units, is this compressed fiber glass?

No track Rat - it's not necessary, you can even fill them up with old pillows and foam mattreses etc. Get some of that Dacron they use in lounge suites, your local Wallmart probably has it in rolls.

great pictures...

John, nice job on the pictures. Now if I can get your opinion on something a little different:

I need to isolate (home recording) vocals a little better...from computer noises, untreated walls...etc. How effective would a curtain, like those HEAVY theatre stage style, be in acheiving this? To me it would seem easy to mount a track to encirlcle a quarter of my room...making a reasonable area of isolation for vocals or acoustic guitar.

Is this effective or am I just ignorant? To totally isolate the computer is not feasible nor is treating the entire room (although I am pursuing the compressed fiberglass options after seeing your other threads).

Yadi - if you have access to those heavy stage curtains use them but bear in mind that the sound you get will be a bit dull cos they will suck up the highs - but a bit of high end shelf will probably compensate for it ;)

cheers
