I had to get this wee idea out.
This converts any room in the house to a live room or an iso booth or whatever.
My bro and I were looking to use our home studio to record a band...they like to play live and we wanted a big live room.
Our studio space is in his (quite sizeable loft) all of the gear is also up there. not big enough for the band to be comfy though.
Solution:
We firewired an 828 using 2 firewire drives daisy chained to the main studio.
12 meters plus...taking the tracking device - 828 - anywhere in the house.
We monitored tracking through 828 locally through phones and monitors.
The main studio made use of DP4's multi interface function.
The same tracks were routed through dp's mixer to another interface in the main studio.
our communication was maintained through isight and rendevous on a laptop in the tracking room and on the desktop.
Amazing - just like being in the room with the band - the only physical connection being firewire cable.
Using this set up we recon you can utilise different room sounds in any building all controlled with 1 master computer in a remote, isolated area.
Anyone think of other apps for this..........
