ok, i am going to give you my setup and you have to give me the best possibly way to get a good quality album for my punk rock band out of it...(not worrying about mics, but give suggestions on vocal and drum tracks)

Behringer Eurorack UB1622FX-PRO 16-Input Mixer
Behringer MDX 4600 dynamics processor
old equalizer of my dads
reel to reel tape deck
Boss BR-1180 Digital Recording Studio
HP Pavillion 2.2 gb 512 mb ram with Cakewalk Homestudio 2004(i prefer to record to this if possible)

for guitars amps
Mesa Boogie dual rectifier
Galien Krueger backline 350

for control monitors i have a optimus stero reciever with good speakers hooked up
Behringer EuroPower EP1500 Power Amp with 2 speakers and floor monitor

well there you have it, please help me find a answer to all my problems...... good luck!

Best way to get a good sounding album is to set that Mesa Boogie on fire!

Heheheh....

Jesus is the answer to all your problems.

Or maybe it was Buddha.

You might check out Allah, too.

Sometimes just a piece of ass for the night seems like a solution to all your problems.

Or an 1/8 of KGB.

Use the boss br 1180 I hope you have the cd burner for it and your dynamics processor and throw the rest of it away

I agree with RD423, you really don't have much to work with. Your best bet is to sell everything except the Boss and get some high quality mics and maybe a couple DI boxes (unless the boss takes instruments direct.) with only 2 xlr's you might consider a small mixer so you can add extra mics for recording drums. And also think about a headphone amp that will allow multiple users to listen to the mix as it's recorded. To actually make a quality recording Keep you volumes down, in the digital world redlining the mix is bad news. start with just the drums and guitar and record till you get the drums right. The guitar track is not so important at first, it is just a scratch track for the drummer's reference. After the drums are done record each of the other intruments one at a time till they are right. Finally add vocals. read every tutorial you can find on mixing and mastering and like your music, practice makes perfect. There is no magic formula here, you are going to have to make it happen. And please do worry about the mics, good mics make for good recordings, the boss has 48v phantom power so go out and get a good condenser mic to do your vocals on! BTW I speak from experience, I have been working with a punk band recording their stuff and the biggest problem I face is they think all volume knobs must be at 10 and screaming till the speakers distort is singing! I'm not cracking on the genre, save that stuff for playing live if you want but control it in the studio or your recording will be junk. Good luck storming the castle boys!

I second C7sus's idea:

3/4 Faith
1/4 KGB

I asked the magic 8 ball and it said...
