At $4500 for two channels, it darn well better be good. But did you know that Earthworks already sells preamps with comparable specs for thousands less? By comparable, I mean the differences are beneath the hearing potential of human beings.

No, I don't work for Eric, but I greatly admire the sound of his products as well as his design philosophy. His belief is that you should not be able to hear the preamp at all. It would be interesting if someone compared the Sequerra to the Earthworks 1022 -- if there was any sound difference at all, one of the designers has made a mistake!

I love the "Sound Log" name and the longing for Ho-Ho's.
Personally, think it's important to have a preamplifier that is flat from a 0.5 hertz into the gigahertz range. You never know what subtle forces the earth's energy or microwave transmissions might have on the sound of your microphone. And although the log shape is nice and fits well in the fireplace, I'd prefer something more sensually curved -- is anyone else here old enough to remember the Oscar Mayer Weenermobile?

I'll stick with my Grace Design 101. Similar specs, and under $600 for a single channel.

Right on! If you only need a single channel, no one should consider spending more than $600 until they've listened to the Earthworks Lab 101 and the Grace Design 101. Both are delicious!I just can't decide whether I should buy one channel or save up for two.

Looks like my dealer cost for the Earthworks Lab101 is $488 with list of $750...just FYI. I wish I had a dealership on more cool stuff like that.

Since we're a little place, a studio really and do very little sales, we generally charge our dealer cost + our shipping cost + COD fees (only way we can buy, usually like $6) + cost to ship to you. I have no idea what it would be, but if you're interested I can talk to my guy who buys stuff and find out.

Best web price I've found on the Earthworks Lab 101 and the Grace Design 101 is coincidentally the same: $559, plus tax and shipping, depending where you live.
Audiomidi.com in California has the Grace Design 101.

Note especially that Eric is discontinuing the Earthworks Lab 101 and Lab 102 once current stock is exhausted. They are fabulous preamps, with a musical sense of rhthym and drive that sounds like some of the best Rupert Neve designs only much more accurate. They are preamps that make you forget you're listening to a recording and take you into the music. However, some crucial part in the sub-assembly is no longer being made. He told me that he will keep enough parts on hand to service the Lab series indefinitely into the future, but once the current stock of completed preamps is gone, you'll have to step up to the 1022 or 1024, his "ultimate" preamps that are significantly more expensive.
For that matter, what WOULD be your price on a 1022 or a 1024, as well as the Lab 101 and Lab 102?
It's not like I'm an insider of any sort -- I just happen to have the same name as a famous Christian gospel singer. I think Eric was probably disappointed to find out I am a middle-aged grants administrator for a non-profit organization in a small town of about 15,000 people. After my SECOND email to him, he hasn't responded. ;-)

I did get the "supplies limited" notice from them on the 101. Dont know what the cost is on the others yet, they arent on any of my cost sheets. I'll give then a call tomorrow and find out whats left and the cost on the other stuff for ya.

I'm only posting this because of the subject of "transparent" or "sound-less" preamps:
While the Grace Deseign 101 and Earthworks 101 are VERY nice pres for VERY reasonable prices (I sure wouldn't complain!), if you want to talk about "sound-less" and cheap, the mention of a DaviSound TB-6 ought to be in there.
Also, although it's not out yet, based on the RNC by FMR reputation, we ought to also mention the RNMP by FMR that is to be coming out this week or next.
Just for informational purposes...
