Greetings,

I just bought the RNP and the RNC, and I also have a Behringer Eurorack UB802 Mixer. I don't know how to connect them.
Right now I have the mic cable going into the RNP, the RNP goes into the RNC, and the RNC goes into the sound card, so the Eurorack is not in use.
With this setup I am getting too much noise. The microphone I am using is Rode NT-1000, which should be very quiet.

And for some reason I am only getting the right mono signal, could it be one of the cables?

Please give some tips on how to set this up.

If you have one mic plugged it its ALWAYS gonna be mono...Unless you mean when you record you only get right mono that means you have to set up your recording system to record a mono signal instead of recording a stereo signal which leads to it playing only on side because only one channel has sound coming out.

As for the noise don't send the RNC direct to the soundcard, use the inserts get a Ring to Tip Y cable. THe inserts balance the RNC signal lowering the noise floor...but even if you didn't do that it shouldn't be so noisy that it would be unbearable, could be wire...unbalanced i've found the SNR to be about -80 to -70 DB. balanced -80 and lower

If your RNP/RNC are working right, you shouldn't be getting any discernable noise with the NT-1000. You've got something hooked up wrong or a bad cable or soundcard.

Thank you for your replies!

Yes, that is what I meant: when I record, I only get mono. Before I hooked up the RNP and the RNC, the soundcard was recording pretty decent sound from the Eurorack mixer, so I probably hooked them up wrong or they are defective.

Teacher, what do you mean by "use the inserts get a Ring to Tip Y cable" ?

You should use short TRS/TRS 1/4" cables to hook your RNP inserts to the RNC and then use your balance outs on the RNP to go to the soundcard. Well, that is IF your soundcard has balanced inputs...if it doesn't, you're doing ok using the unbalanced outs on the RNC. Either way, you shouldn't have noise unless your cranking the heck of the gains on box boxes.

its a Y cable that comes out the insert (above the out on the RNP in the back) so you connect the 'Ring' side to receive and "Tip" side to send I think thats how it goes anyway, maybe vice versa don't remember.

You don't need insert (Y) cables for the RNC. It's designed to send/receive on the inputs with a 1/4" TRS. Just get two TRS/TRS cables..short as you can find. Do they make 1 footers? Less cable mess.

Just out of curiousity what is your soundcard and what input are you using?

Thank guys, I'll get the right cables.

My soundcard is Audiophile 2496. I just need to record the vocals, so the only input is the mic. When I don't hook up the preamp and the compressor, it records fine from the Eurorack, so the card and the mic are fine.

Thanks for all your help!
