CONTEST RULES FOR
THE REDFIZZ $600 STIMULUS PACKAGE SWEEPSTAKES

* THE BASICS

We want to hear a good song, dammit. We want it so bad, we're going to give $500 to the artist that submits the best song over the course of one month. Runner-Up gets $100.

* ELIGIBILITY

First of all, to submit a song, you must be a registered RedFizz user. Don't worry, it only takes about 15 seconds!

All songs submitted to RedFizz between 12:00 AM April 15, 2008 and 11:59 PM May 14, 2008 are automatically entered in the contest. You may enter as many songs as you want. Any previously submitted song is ineligible, as are re-makes of previously submitted songs. Covers are ineligible for this contest.

* SONG RIGHTS

As outlined in our Terms of Service, RedFizz is not out to steal your music or interfere with any contracts you may get. WITH YOUR PERMISSION, we may want to podcast songs or otherwise distribute them, but it will be entirely up to you. As soon as you remove a song from RedFizz, we no longer retain any rights to it. Fair enough?

* HOW IT WORKS

When you submit a song to RedFizz, it will go into our Battle area (see top nav bar). This is where our users (including you, if you want to participate) decide which area a song gets published to: Featured (the homepage), Second Stage, or Rejects. The Battle area randomly pairs up two songs, and users click which one they like better. The more "wins" a song gets, the more likely it is to be featured. However, no matter which area your song goes to, it is eligible to win a prize in the contest.

RedFizz's moderator (username: qualcomm) will choose the Grand Prize ($500) winner. However, he will certainly take any comments and votes into consideration, so it is in your interest to have your fans come and support you.

The Runner-Up ($100) will be chosen by the mob. Whichever contest song has the highest Weighted Rating (as of 11:59 PM May 27, 2008) will get the $100. It is therefore even more in your interest to have your fans come and support you.

* HOW IT ALL ENDS

Votes on songs will continue to count toward the Runner-Up prize until 11:59 PM May 27, 2008. This will give songs that are submitted late in the contest period a fair chance to be voted on and considered. Contest winners will be announced on May 28, 2008. Both payments will be made in the form of a cashier's check, sent wherever the hell you tell us to.

* QUESTIONS?

Ask away on the contest thread in our Forum.

you can also submit your songs for critique, evaluation or suggestions.

sounds cool. I shall inflict your website with my compositional war crimes tomorrow. Welcome to hell.

I'm just a member but I think it's a really cool site, and slightly addictive!
Good luck in battles!

metal is tricky, and you may get mixed reviews. I think it's like anywhere else. You'll recieve different feedback based on who hears it, etc. Sometimes you'll get comments out in left field, like a year later.

Take it or leave it I guess.

Steve: did you get slammed or something? What's your band name? I'll review your songs. I'm one of the nicer critics.

Sweet, I'm just finishing up my first single.

I hope everyone digs the Polka-Rap hybrid genre! (not really ;))

But, seriously, I'm in.

ha ha, that's cool, polka rap! One of the interesting things is the fact that you never know what kind of comments one will get submitting songs, or what peoples tastes are. I love that and have been surprised at some of the stuff I like as well as some of the stuff other people have dug, or not dug for that matter

hmm DrFringe... it won't allow me to enter my bands information. It contains no unsupported characters, and I even threw it into a txt file to make sure there was no formatting that I wasn't seeing... it won't have it no matter what I do... but I enter everything without the bio and it's fine. Any ideas?

Terra, it's Jeff from the Naked crazies, we've been corresponding there- and i know you're smart so you probably already knew that but as far as entering text: I know they were having technical issues on that site and sometimes pasting doesn't work but it's definitely a weird issue??

I just updated my own band bio but I've had some definite issues with pasting. I know they use a microsoft aspx platform. I think the MS technology explains the issues.

Really, the site is run by a programmer (who barely has time to maintain the code) and a English major. So, I am sorry but I don't think maintaining the site, or fixing technical issues is the highest priority.

There is a bug report page there, but I'm sure you'll figure it out- or I can try to help. You could always clear your cache and cookies, and look fwd to your song. You got my vote.:D:D

yeah, the main moderator is giving away his tax return, literally - to get some traffic. It's all about love of music as far as I can tell. I went there on a fluke to rate a friend and I've learned and listened to so many bands it's not funny. I am supposed to "critique" but really I'm listening and enjoying. I know there are infinite numbers of bands and songs but I love the community aspect too. We're all cyber firends- or a vast majority of the crits and the inside jokes don't always translate but it's cool to talk about the bands there, about the successes and failures, the financial side, or the aspect of getting feedback from people that critique songs on a daily basis.

Cheers.

Too much I know but sometimes it can be hard to talk about warm sounds, micing, processors, grainy sounds, etc unless you hear the actual music.

you all gunna die sons! MAHAHAHAHA! upload commencing... umm....soonish. *cackle*

oh, hey dude! I'll try typing it out and see if that goes through. Of course we wouldn't want the world to miss out on our inspirational biography, filled with warm cute little anctedotes and whimsical word play, that your grandmother will surely enjoy... ahem... hmmm well okay I'll shut up now... too much caffeine today, most likely.

Thanks man!

yep! typing it in worked like a charm. That's so weird.

thanks for the heads up.

Don't submit any metal, btw.

you do good stuff man.

I'm...ahem...waiting for it as well hahaha... I'll get a vote from the good Dr. but the rest will be like...GET THE FUCK OUT! hahahahaha so I may be joining you in saying that... I saw one get rejected, just because it was "heavy" (no other reason given).

There's no such thing as a well written heavy song, after all. :D

Then again, I can use more bad reviews in my press kit... the more the merrier, in reality.

haaaa that's funny man!

Actual I've been the root of inspiration for the rejection reasons "overwhelming panel hatred" as well as "shameless" and "how dare you". I think I've had everything thrown in that you can think of. If they give you a good one, it means they went to the troulbe of giving you a nod. I would bet real money you'll fit in perfectly Mr Terra.

That's funny as all getout though. The best thing about the site is the humor. For me anyway-

You should introduce yourself over in the forums and talk some smack man, we're discussing recipes. I'm known as unklespazz over there. I wasn't acting sane enough to go by my common handle.

I think if you posted that one song, you'll do quite well. Cheers bud.

yep...just as I thought. lol...rejected. My one suggestion for that site...get some OBJECTIVE reviewers who won't just reject anything metal... that's kind of retarded (There's metal in the rejection section, some REALLY good metal too ... but magically..go over to the other sections. A much different story...that should say something.) Not attacking you, just some good suggestions for that particular site... if it's so genre specific, it should say so...because it seems that if you do anything heavy, angry or aggressive, it's an automatic rejection.... (Like maybe they should have people familiar with different genres doing the reviewing and acceptance of that particular genre... like someone who knows something about heavy music do those, someone who knows something about say...folk music, do that...etc.. I think it would be a bit more objective, and realistic.

Anyway...awaiting the bad review hahaha. I want to put it in my press kit.
