Here's a shorty. I acquired a Marshall 8100, plugged in a Strat, played some chords, made up some words.

The bass is panning so,

My main interest is your take on the drum sound.

Appreciate any comments.

Thanks and Merry Christmas.

Drum sound is fine.

But what does 'bass is panning' mean?

To me, it sounds like each drum is a completely separate sound. It doesn't really sound like a kit. Are you using triggers?

The wide pan on the toms is super-weird. I noticed that way before the bass panning.

I really don't like the the bluesy bass line, but that's my personal hang-up and not so much a problem with your song.

Yeah I changed the tom pan because I was getting a mono sound from the overheads. Simple enough to change.

Thanks for the spin.

I won't comment on the drums because although they are artfully crafted, Bob's overheads leave a bit to be desired in my opinion.

What I will comment on is the composition. I find this another masterful contribution by the illustrious clusterdomosama from Kentucky.

He seems to effortlessly create music that sticks in your head whether you want it to or not. I found myself singing this simple little tune while making coffee this morning.

Thanks for that, Bob,

I think the drum sound is pretty good. On ear buds I almost feel like the kick could come down a hair, but I'm just reaching for the most useful thing I can come up with. Cool tune!

I'm not liking the drums. The kick exhibits all of the bad frequencies that I typically don't like in a kick drum. It sounds bouncy and boomy like a floor tom. Not good IMO. The toms seem unnaturally spread out but don't sound especially bad. The snare is okay for the song I guess. Guitars sound good. I agree with VHS about the bass. It's okay but it's too blues rock for my tastes. Kind of a cheesy bass line.

I agree about the kick volume. Today it felt like a hammer hit me. Thanks for reaching.

Thanks, I'll keep trying.

Why not post this to S.T.? Not your cup of tea? I think they would enjoy Sydney there too and some of your others. Just a thought.

I've gotten good vibes from those guys in the past.

Funny, right now I just took a break from tweaking the drums, again. There are so many non linear parameters.

I have been trying to tame the kick sound.

It's the work I enjoy.

Good song and recording but the univibe style bass panning is annoying. You could pull the kit a little closer together.
Vox are a treat.
Sound like Australian blues/boogie rock from the 70's which is a good thing.
