Hi, Im a devoted POD user and am addicted, but it seems that when I record it direct into my recorder (AKaiDPS16) the sound is muddy. Does anyone else have this problem? Maybe you have an mp3 song with POD so I can hear something clear and what can be accomplished.

I too, record with a POD into an Akai DPS16, and have registered that same complaint. The tone is okay by it sounds as though the amp is being played in another room -- it doesn't have an 'up-front' sound. I know some people have gone into the deep editing thing with the Soundiver software and tweaked ad nauseum to achieve a better tone. I haven't gone that route yet.

What I have been doing is splitting my guitar signal and going into the POD and also a SansAmp PSA-1. The PSA tone structure is different, more in-your-face than the POD, so I mix the two tones together. They seem to complement each other, filling in the tonal holes that the other lacks. It's still not perfect but it really helps alot. The PSA is kind of pricey, but I lucked out and found one on Ebay for $310.00. I don't think it's worth any more than that.

I've posted a few people on this BBS who said they are using the Hughes & Kettner Tubeman, which by many reviewers, is supposed to sound great for recording. Unfortunately, no one has replied.

A few people on another BBS said they run their POD's though mic preamps, and that really smooths out the tone, but that seems kind of redundant. Who knows. Of course, you can also adjust the EQ on the Akai -- I record flat then adjust it when I mixdown. Each patch is different as to what it needs so you just have to use your ears.

Let me know if you find any solutions.
