i am using two small-diaphragm condenser pointed to the guitar amp (electric guitar),and the sound of the pick hitting the strings is very noticeable.

i even tried playing with my back against the amp....but no change.

idea,anyone??

Turn the amp up, that or it's the scrape of the pick on the strings as picked up by the pickups on the guitar, in which case I don't really know other than use a softer pick, try a different picking style, don't use a pick at all maybe.

You might want to look at the source. Perhaps a softer plectrum or change of string type. Or if that doesn't work, (no offense intended) a change or sharpening of playing style might be in order.

I'm not really understanding the whole "back against the amp" thing?
Surely you are refering to the pick attack simply being too pronounced in the amplifier.
If that is the case, pick further from the pickup, use the other pickup, use lighter strings, use a lighter pick, use your fingers, modify your playing style. ;)

If you are refering to the actual sound of the pick hitting the strings (not the amplifier, although I really can't imagine that) just stand further away from the mics :D

I have gotten it. I play in my apt, at "loud TV watching" volume, and the sound of the strings ringing can be heard plainly.

Turn up, and/ or put a blanket over the cabinet and mics, or stick to dynamics.

that's the sound a guitar makes... maybe try a different instrument

i bet that playing with your fingers would completely cure the problem

yeah I would avoid using condensors or more elaborate would be to try a pair of DI's and play in another room.

that happens to me a little bit when I record with a miked amp rather than with my vamp2 DI'd. I don't have big room so I can't move far enough from the mics for it not be to picked up. So I put the amp and mics into the closet. Problem solved.

Try the tongue - though you'll need to be warey of heavy breathing, moaning or dribbling.

Yup, try being further away from the amp/mic, turning the amp up, or even playing the guitar in a different room from the amp.

Maybe a coupla gobos between the mic/amp and guitar?

also technique is very important obviously. Only just the very tip of the pick should be hitting the strings.

If you don't hit the strings too close to the pickups it's supposed to make quite a difference.... and standing as far away from the recsource as possible...
