"The Passing"

Incredible tune. This is my first listen (before the updates), but I like the way the vocals sound just the way they are. They're a bit hard to understand the way they sit, but I think it lends to the feel of the song that way. There have been many songs that really grabbed me and I had to dig up the lyrics or listen closely. This is definitely one of those.

If I had to dig a criticizm out of my humble ass, the only thing I wasn't crazy about was the bendy flute-ish preset you're using that starts at about 2:23 (and I had to really dig for something I didn't like).

Nice job!

Just listened to Passing again, you should definitely try to take some classes in film scoring. You know how to create a mood well, nice dynamics, too. If this song was a soundtrack, I really wouldn't worry about not being able to understand the lyrics.

This is a cool song. Thanks for posting the lyrics.

Could only listen in cans, all was well with the mix in my cans, if something jumps out on the monitors, I'll let you know.

If you are going to retrack those flat spots, the 4 most offensive spots were "slowly" and the first "unholy" both times through. Weird part is you did fine with the same note in "alive". You might want to try replacing the vowel sounds in "slowly" and "unholy". Sounds weird, but give it a shot. The best example of this is the word "fire", which can be a real bitch to sing. When replaced with "faaayaaah" it becomes quite easy to sing. Try "unhalleye" and "slahleye" or something like that. Or try smiling when you sing.

hi

I have been listening to your tracks lately. It has been a while for me, must apologise. Anyway, they are really interesting and realling involving. I like everything thats happening and would love to hear more of your voice. This one in particular was good and obviously I liked the intro but your vocal was really cool. I can`t really comment on the mix yet becasue I am not quite there but as far a creativity and style goes, brilliant. Cheers

I must say though, they scared the shite out of me late last night!

...stuck in my head...

SLuiCe,
Got this one stuck in my head today...

Always a sign of a good song, IMO

Problem was, I was attending my twins' Kindergarden Graduation!!! !!! !!!

I'm sure glad I haven't heard it enough times to know the lyrics...

Man that's cool! Reminds me of Dead Can Dance a little bit. This one goes on my cd of Homerecer songs I listen to on trips.
Actually I don't hear anything about it I dislike. The sounds are all good. If I was gonna nitpick........I'd like to hear the vocals a little more consistant volumewise. Not much, the dynamics are important to the feel but on occasion they come up just a little too much. Great song though, and very good playing. What are the drums?

Lt. Bob- Thanks for checkin it out. I mapped the drums out in Sonar 2's midi piano roll to trigger the GM drums on my Korg Triton. Then I fed that into Audio tracks for mixing. Seems to be working pretty good so far. Always looking for better drum sounds though. Being a guitar player and thinking like a drummer doesn't really come naturally to me. ;)
Thanks again.
