Well, thanks to all who have given me some stuff to work on. I've fixed a few issues, and most that remain deal with my inability to play my instruments properly, or to sing on/in any given key. Rokkett, for some reason I had some hellashishly squashing compression on the bass. That is now remidied. Should have caught it before. I added some compression to the drums, and seemed to make them a bit better.

Again, thanks to you all. Massive fun.

The song has much potential...
I love the guitar solo. Les Paul? It's got a good Kim Thayall outshined thing going on... It would be nice to hear a higher pitched variation of the main riff going on with a wah pedal later in the song... At 1:33 and 4:02 I feel like you should just drop into the main riff instead of holding the note for a four count.

A countermelody would be nice in the background. A strategically placed return to a lone guitar would work well, perhaps with a whispered "are you ready to die"... This is also a great time to break out the old tomorrow never knows beat. Syncopated tom work a la Jane's Addiction would work well with this song, anchored to HH timekeeping.
The drums aren't too bad, they need the cymbals brought out more to give the song a little shimmer.

If the vocals are trouble, a slightly lower guitar volume would allow you to do a doubled up middle voice a la Mellow Yellow.

Nice work, Dogman.

Casey, thanks for the ideas. I will play with the tune when I get some more time, hopefully soon, and see if I can accomplish some of this. Sounds pretty cool in my mind. Thanks, man.

I'm downloading Purge's symphony, but I'll give it a listen as soon as that's done....

Hmmmm, if you want to play with this idea, I can give you some pointers:

By the end I was thinking that it would be totally rad if the vocals were like two octaves higher, like if Chris Cornell sang it back in the 'Louder than Love' days or something.

But where to get such a vocalist. . . no idea.

Point away my friend. I need all the help I can get.

While I listen to this a clear scene comes to mind... hot, wet, dense stinking jungle... walking very slowly... making no sound... weapon unslung... trying not to think of the fact that the laws of probability are against us... if I live another hour it'll be a surprise. But I'm singing this vocal in my head and feeling the guitar in the tightness of my movements, thinking I'll write it down if I get back to the world. Pretty intense Ed.

Purge, rhythmically the guitar just slings the vocal phrases from one to the next. Hot solo. Always love your playing.

Erie hearing this.

Thanks for listening, Tim. That's a pretty good scenario for the vocals. Better than what I pictured. They were all convoluted when I wrote them, so it rambles a bit, but your scene makes more sense. I tend to write very simple music, and for someone to have a vision out of it, is pretty cool. I haven't been able to sit back and just listen to it yet, but should be able to in a day or so, and then I'll see if it needs to be changed, or just put away.

Thanks again for the listen, and input. And as a sidenote, I don't know how Purge came up with a solo, as the rythum changed tones on him midway through the process. I went from a Robin Trower sound to what you hear now. He still fit something in there for me.

Morning, True. Let me know what you think of the new mix. Fixed a few small issues, but no major changes. I gotta go for now, but will look for your words of wisdom when I return.
Thanks, dudette.

That is much better!!! Everything is more togather. Vocals are well, they are you DOG... :D I personally think the vocals emualate a Cheech and Chong flavour. And they ROCKED!!! Remember the pink tutu Cheech wore on stage in the end??? Up In Smoke is my favorite all time movies, hands down, Dazed and Confused being 2nd...I guess one has to have been there to appreciate. :D I like your song...keep up the Short Bus tunes....Our numbers have grown, and I think we need a bigger Bus!!!

PS PURGE, YOU DID IT AGAIN!!!....RIFF,RIFF,RIFF :D

new mix better, more together, i concur with preceding speaker.
how about some backing vocals?

don't worry about your own singing..... it's kewl as it is!!!!

what is it that you like about my stuff though?, i mean it's a different bag.... at least "Don't tell me...." maybe you could have thrown in some kinda repetitive guitar lick here and there..... know whatta mean :D

doo-do-di-doo-do-di-doo-di-do-doo OTFL.....

oh yeah, and "pisstake" means making fun of someone/something. Sounds like your making fun of certain heavy depressive rockbands.... ;)

Thanks, madmush. That's a very good review. Gives me stuff to work on. What I liked about your stuff, is the fact it just plain old sounded good. You captured a good performance, and put it together very well. The pop/punk stuff is not what I run out to buy, as too much of it sounds way over-produced. These guys want an "angry, fucke the establishment sound", and then all sound the same. Your stuff sounded like you enjoyed making the song, went for a good sound, and then said here it is. I would call it genuine. Just plain old rock and roll. You might have even had some fun doing it. :D

Comes across that way, and that is why some of us listen to music. It's fun. Keep it up.

Thanks True. I love Cheech and Chong. Makes my sides hurt. I'll see what kind of funds we have for a new bus. Of course, Purge probably spent it all on Nyquil, so we are back at square one.
