The new Marshall amp - anyone heard it?

Seems like to me these amp companies might be better off dropping some money into tube (re)developement instead of spitting out amps that claim to sound like the old designs.

yeah we arent really seeing any innovation except digital modelling really anymore. its like rather than do something new they find a new way to copy something old.

I'd think that the classics would be the way to go. Fender makes a mint selling the same guitars that are pretty much the same since the 1950s. Yeah, I know they've tinkered with them but recent vintage American Strats seem to be decent values although I think the G&L stuff beats the Fender Custom Shop. Anyhow, I digress...

Yet, when I go to Guitar Center, I see these guys playing amps that are these newer pieces of crap from Fender, Vox or Marshall rather than the good stuff still made by each company.

Because most of these digital amps are cheaper and sound better at lower volumes than the tube amps they simulate.

Face, you cannot make a 100watt Marshall head with a 412 cab sound good in an apartment. Physics are physics. I have had the attenuators and all that stuff, they are great for playing a 20-100 watt head or combo tube amp at a "reasonable" volume in a house, but apartments are impossible. Not to mention a $1000 amp is well out of most peoples budgets.

that new amp is a 100 watt model. what's the point? anyone that's interested in a high power head probably doesn't need 50 knobs and 10 channels. :D

why are the amp companies pumping out all these shitty high power heads?

Way to keep it on topic. I didn't ask for a debate of new vs old. Damn, people.

I'm gonna go way out on a limb and say these guys haven't messed around with the amp in question. :D

Yeah, I get that much. I guess they just felt the need to reply with something...anything at all.

Not as much as some around here. I prefer to do other things with my time. :)
