Just got mine from the local shop.
Used by the biggest names like Zappa, Beck, Zeppelin and others.
:D

The legendary Pignose portable amp.

MAN, the most abused thing ever! Been fooling around most of the day with it and it's insane!.. I will carry that thing to friends and rehealsals and whatnot.. In love, and set back only 65 euros!

I have never even seen one except in adverts. What are you playing through it?

I have one I bought about 2 years ago on eBay for about AUS$50.
It is fabulous.
Mind you the poor speaker cops a hounding. Cranked & open, cranked & closed to great sounds. Turned down it's pretty flash too.
Face down is great, face up is even better.
& as a Preamp for a guitar - well, just try it - No effect needed but run through it into a wah & wow. Then again wah into it is pretty fab too.
I am experiencing some difficulty mic'ing it up though.
Such a classic sound swampy & D.I.R.T.Y. Definitely not for clean fans though.
& it's GGGRRREEEAAATTT for slide.
Epi Sheraton, Bruno Royal Artists, acoustic with p/up, all go through it very nicely indeed.
Oh, sorry - I went on a bit. I should add the caveat that a) I'm referring to my own one - results may vary with individuals & b) I have a bad ear (things others hear as out of tune I hear as out of sight).

I've tested guitar and bass. Guitarsound is awesome, bluesy rich, murky from front pickups and dry as helldesert from rearpickups. Bass sounds like bass, ofcourse there is something missing playing from a 5w speaker, :D
but rehearsing basslines to songs send to me by e-mail it works fine.
The odd thing is, that when you crank it, it starts to distort as it gets loud, so you can't play clean and loud, only distorted and loud-->quiet and clean.

It opens in half, and inside you can place batteries, played with batteries for two days and they seem to last. You can adjust tones also by opening or closing it while playing, makes a huge difference.

I'm taking it to a friends house today or tomorrow to jam and make comparisons to his 5w fender homecombo. :D

Since my bassgear and guitarcombo are on the rehealsalplace and I'm too lazy to carry them here and there, that pignose works well enough at home. Or at a friend, or at the beach, perhaps even at brokeback-survival-folk island. :D

i think i've been coming down with that too over the last year or so. whatever it is, i hope it does'nt go away on it's own. :D

i tried out a bunch of battery powered amps when i was looking for something to take to the beach. i tried the pignose, marshall's, fender's, the ones that look like a cigarette pack, etc. i ended up getting this little rude ass Danelectro. it sounded great but it died after a about a month. it probably would have been easy to fix but i did'nt have a clue. i'll get the pignose lasts you a long time. ;)
