I did this cover a while back and decided to remix it. Plus I did some retakes on the instruments. Its a rocked up version of a song, "The Monkees" did. My take on it is way different than the original. Some of you old guys and gals may remember it. Its called "Zor and Zam" and the lyrics are very cool. After listening a few times, I might have the pipe organ track to loud in spots. Let me know if its too loud or if anything is whacked. Here is a link to the tune and Im posting the lyrics.

The king of Zor, he called for war
And the king of Zam, he answered.
They fashioned their weapons one upon one
Ton upon ton, they called for war at the rise of the sun.

Out went the call to one and to all
That echoed and rolled like the thunder.
Trumpets and drums, roar upon roar
More upon more.
Rolling the call of "Come now to war."

Throughout the night they fashioned their might
With right on the side of the mighty.
They puzzled their minds plan upon plan
Man upon man
And at dying of dawn the great war began.

They met on the battlefield banner in hand.
They looked out across the vacant land.
And they counted the missing, one upon one,
None upon none.
The war it was over before it begun.

Two little kings playing a game.
They gave a war and nobody came.
And nobody came.
And nobody came.
And nobody came.
And nobody came.

Totally cool , Bush! Nice guitar and drum sound. Don't remember the original, but this is definitely a good version. Mix sounds pretty balanced to me. Well done!

Joey :):):):)

I'm not as old as you might think and I know the original song. The vocals are not what I was expecting. I think they could be better. But the rest of the song was good.

I not a very good singer. Im getting better, well I hope I am. Its a confidence thing and I need to project more than I do. Thanks for the listen

Song is new for me (and I think I´m in the "old" team"):D...
In fact, The Monkees are only know in Brazil for the TV series, I don´t know anyone/friend that own a Monkees LP, or recording...

Your version:
All sounds pretty good - as everything i´ve listening from you.
Great recording and mixing job:cool:

Organ it´s far from being loud.

Thanks Ciro. I have the complete tv series on dvd. And I have their complete library of albums (vinyl). The Monkees a great crew of song writers. Tommy Boyce, Bobby Hart, Neil Diamond and Neil Sedaka, Carole King to name a few. Everyone has their guilty pleasure and mine is "The Monkees". Thank goodness its not Modanna !!!! Sorry Modanna fans, no disrespect.

I even bought the bubble gum & collected the cards.
They have a cool legacy given the circumstances. & there's is a template struggle against the "corporations" for artisitic freedom.
Pearl Jam were by no means 1st to take on a giant.
The arrangement is good - reflects the theme well.
I like this version.
Your vox are coming along well.
This version akes me wonder what they Might Be Giants could do with the track.

Thanks Rayc. I think my next Monkees tune would be "Randy Scout Skit" or "Sweet Young Thing". I know towards the end of the Monkees, they finally got more control in their records. Which there was some great stuff toward the end. Remember the movie Mike Nesmith made ? "Time Rider", I believe it was called. About the guy on the dirt bike who went back in time to the old west. Its a classic B Movie in my book.

Don't sweat it man. I sound like Alfalfa with a bad case of hemorrhoids. That's on a good day.

I remember this. I think I heard your first version. Sounds good. Like mentioned already, the vocals are pretty rough. Don't worry about it though. Just belt that shit out. I can't sing either but I make it happen. Just be confident.
