I'm not familiar with Townshend's track, but he must have borrowed it from the original source. It's difficult to believe that he came up with the same line independently. But maybe you qualify for a CD, cuz as the mists and cobwebs of time have cleared, it occurs to me that the original line is in fact:

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well.

I think I've got it right this time. We won't get fooled again.

Dobro,

(if you can listen to WMF's)

Damn! You qualify for a CD! (Send me a snailmail address.)

Okay, and another free CD to anyone who can identify the source that Townshend and Co pinched the line from...

I would, but between recording, and mixing, and reading this BBS and posting, and my day job, and my family, uh....:(

No time.... (maybe a song idea...)

I was finally able to download these songs (Thanks Waldo), and it was well worth the wait. Wow! You guys should listen with your visualizations turned on. Who is this guy anyway sjoko? He is really awesome.

I listened to the entire thing from track 1 to track 14, although they weren't lined up that way on the list. When I listened to the first track I nearly jumped out of my skin, but it certainly caught my attention. Then it went into a really beautiful song with a choir, and what sounded like a pipe organ, and a flute. Then the track with the deep bass drum was fantastic; the heavy metal guitar was cool as it screamed in to 'Joy To The World' and I think 'Happy Birthday'.

I kept thinking this kinda reminded me of Pink Floyd or the Alan Parson's Project and finally decided that while it had some similarities it was in a class by itself. The whole thing seemed to shift moods while keeping the same atmosphere.

Track 6 sort of reminded me of Black Sabbath and I liked the short sax part thrown in. The song 400 years was great with a poetic dialog that seemed to be in a Scottish accent. Did the lady in the song drown? I was surprised when one of the next tracks was sort of a country song.

Track 9 made me think of the group Korn (Corn, crap I can't even spell it). It had a cool and beautiful choir like back up (was that the one where the choir vocals had the weird effects?) Didn't I hear Baby I'm A Want You by Bread at the end? Track 11 had an awesome guitar and flute; was that a real flute or a keyboard synthesized one? The end of that one was kind of eerie starting with the birds then an undercurrent of something coming at you that ended with what sounded like an explosion and finally quitened with the sounds of the birds again as it faded out. Track 12 had an Alan Parson's sound except i'm sure I heard a banjo in there along with a violin and a piano. I was surprised with the funky country tune end.

Track 13 sounded like it came straight from India but i swear i heard a car horn in there. I loved the piano and the India sounding instrument, what do you call it a satar (sp?).

Finally track 14 was one of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard. It was so peaceful and had a pleasant ending. Again the guitar player was superb!

Over all this was a masterpiece! My husband listened with me and my 14 year old daughter kept saying cool I want the CD.

Thanks for sharing this sjoko! You friend is truly talanted.

Thanks!
Robinson is one of my dearest friends. I met him over 5 years ago, just after I moved to Santa Barbara. He is one of the best, most honest, sweetest and "realest" people I've ever met.
His "main" instrument is Dulcimer, but he plays anything really, he is also an incredible artist with pen and ink, in writing as well as in image.
When Robinson was in his early 20's he became an art teacher - at San Quinton prison - where he only tought lifers and worse, if there is such a thing.
Robinson made the CD as a release from the parting of his father. The whole thing is a journey if you listen to it carefully, altough delivered with a large dose of humor.
Amongst musicians the Matrix has gotten a kind off cult following. People send mail, write, ordering the CD from all over the globe, and all of them are musicians. Cool!

When I met him his 'studio' was a small garage / basement with a 6'8" ceiling (where the CD was recorded). In a corner was a mini grand, in the middle a drum kit, and in the other corner a rack with 1 ADAT, 1 DA, a 32/8 Mackie, a hand build pre, 1 effects processor, a CD player and a cassette deck. He was busy recording people 7 days a week, after he made his CD everyone wanted to work with him.

First thing I did was lend him some good microphones and other bits and pieces, and ever since he's been building things up slowly. He's now moved to a place called Beagle Studios in Santa Barbara, where he's renting most of the place, with good size tracking rooms and a decent control room. He now records on a Mackie D8B (my partner and I pulled some strings and we got it for him at wholesale cost), 4 20 bit ADATS (which will go shortly), sometimes he uses the studio's 2" machine as well, he's build-up an amazing mic collection, including 2 converted Neumanns, has some Grace preamps, clocks it with a Lucid GEN, and gets some amazing results. I think one of these days you will see some hits with his name on them as engineer or engineer / producer. He has already had a couple of hits in Japan with a band called Summercamp, songs he recorded as their demos, but they couldn't improve them in the "real" recordings (he never got credit for them - did from the band, not the record company - lesson here - CONTRACTS!!!!! - whatever you do - put it in writing!!! Recording a Japanese top 10 hit for 50 bucks as a demo? Very wrong!)
Robinsone is the only person who has unlimited, anytime access to all my gear, and I do to his. Amazing possibilities, amazing how nice it is to make agreements with honest people.

He's going to do another CD soon, all the songs are written. If you want a copy of this one, I'm sure he's got a bunch left, so ask me.
