the limits of reason

hi, i'm REALLY new to MIDI and i'm actually still deciding on what programs to buy for my computer. I'm thinking of getting reason 2.0 and I know that it is compatible with soundfonts patches.

My question is this: I have been to some sites with demos of soundfont patches that sound really nice. For example a very nice (and expensive) orchestra package that was used for scoring a film. After hearing it, I believed it.

BUT the thing is that these patches were not necesserily used in reason to do the scores. Does anyone know if Reason is capable of doing something like a film score on it's sequencers and using it's samplers to play back these high-quality patches?

My concern stems from the fact that all the reason songs i have found on the net are more electornica and beat-based.

Any comments? Any help would be appreciated!

Reason 2.5 won't leave you with any need for sound fonts. They have they're own banks called refills. And IMO the sounds are superb. There is quite a learning curve, but if you listen to some of the demo songs even off reason2 you'll see it's capable of producing all kinds of music.

Master that program and you will rule!
