The left head slightly wobbles

I have a vintage teac 33-8 8 track 1/2" recorder. It seems to record just fine but when I rewind it, The left hub wobbles slightly(when going at high rates of speed) This does not seem to affect the usability of the unit but just wondering if it will eventually. I dig this unit and would rather not take it to get service if I dont have to.
 
The plastic reel clampers (hub adaptor) eventually wear out. They are almost always bad on used TASCAM decks. You can buy new ones from TASCAM.

I think it should be the same part as the 38 and TSR-8. Those use, Reel Clamper #5740003400.

Tim, are you saying that the "top part" of the adaptor is the same for 1/4" and for 1/2" ? Just trying to make sure here as I never had 1/2" one in my hand.

No, the 1/2 and 1/4 are different part numbers and different sizes. The problem with buying these off eBay is you're almost sure to get just another one that's worn out.

Tascam parts sells them for less than I see them on eBay.

The part he needs is just the plastic part.
 
I wonder how long we can keep both these threads with identical titles alive? :D

ah. I ask, because on your picture (attached) those are 1/4". so I've got - :confused: :confused: :confused: so I though that the "locking" mechanism made of the same parts (some same parts?)

A,B,C and D are plastic
E,F,G and H are metal

I - is metal, but it's not a part, but rather is a tool, which you better have to deal with the situation. Also I would recommend to memorize the order of pieces before they all fall a part... LOL ;) , but even if your memory (unlike mine) is still functioning o.k., you will have a bit of a hard time finding those lil' holes for the screws :D :D :D

The part comes as an assembly from TASCAM. What you have there is a disassembly.

Do you need help getting that back together? :D

Anyone know where to get the reel hubs for Otari machines?
