What do you think? Does it sound like geebledediduck or does it make some sense?

Okay,no it is not, you were right, first language is Dutch.

Rick a hard time? Well, don't know about that, no not really, I appreciate the stories and...............whatever else goes on so..................... ;)

Just keep it all going eh

Eddie :)

How has this thread got to page three without discussing how music applies to DJs?

Scandalous!!

Hmmm.

Music theory is intensely dull but just about rewarding enough to be worth it in the long run. Just about. :)

How On Earth Could I Miss ..........Works

I am not dragon the owner of this site, I am dragonworks, just another member.

I am not sure what you mean by having fun with numbers or if you are even referring to my posts.
There are over a couple of thousand chords. All I was trying to show was how to build them. If you can follow my illogical post then you will be able to name the notes in just about any chord. They are not picked at random, there is a reason, and that is all I was trying to get across.

Hello dragonWORKS,

Heh, I am sorry that I overlooked the WORKS part of your srceenname, I guess I am the same as you with........................"and we must remember that Dragonworks is a dummy and prone to human errors and typos........." I have taken this from one of your earlier posts.

Well the number and the chords make absolutely perfect sense to me, and me refering to you as "Having fun with Numbers" was related to some of the lauguage you use, and also your signature, I can read between the lines that it is done all in good nature, and with some sense of humour as well. That is what I meant, but then again, I could be wrong eh.

How to Transpose Yorkhire Hills into a Californian Sunrise

.............It always amuses me tho' how people from rural Holland want to disassociate themselves from Amsterdam..........

Well yes Garry I know that, myself I like to think of me as being as bad as the ones living in Amsterdam, with hormones all over the place and using all those spititual, healing herbs :D

I myself was born in rural Holland [Zeeland, which is a lovely county, a collection of isles] but I decided to move to Yorkshire, England in search for some quiteness and space :D so I could work in peace on my guitar/theory skills. When things get too quiet here I can always pop back and catch up with the Dutch vibe. So far I do not miss much of that, think I would like to learn a bit more about that "Californian Dream", just to get a bit more suntan and some hot spicy love........................to inspire and feed the muse.

So how does this work out Nik?

Eddie :)

It's an old joke on this forum. Can a DJ be a musician? Can MrQCue use Behringer? Can Sonusman / Mosfet / UB802 save himself from getting banned yet again?

This is the sub-culture you have to learn ;) :D

Well that is great, as I have something to look forward to :cool:

Hey Rick - friendly advice - if you are going to post a novel, do what novelists do and break into into paragraphs. It's VERY difficult to read that many lines on a screen without a break.

You actually read it?

Although i feel that im getting ample guitar theory from my guitar grimoire books...im waiting eagerly for your next installement....its a captivating tale

The Journey???

Sorry, I thought this was a thread about Neil Schon

CM 13 15 31 35 51 53 135 153 315 351 513 531

CM(ext7) 17 37 57 71 73 75 137 157 173 175 317 357 375
517 537 571 573 713 715 731 735 751 753
1357 1375 1537 1573 3157 3175 3517 3571 5137 5173
5317 5371 5713 5731 7135 7153 7315 7351 7513 7531
Then you still have:
Cm
Cx
Co
C1/2o

BTW: CM C D E F G A B C

I= 1357 CEGB = CM7 Add extensions at pleasure 1379
II= 2461 DFAC = Dm7
III= 3572 ECBC = Em7
IV= 4613 FACE = FM7
V= 5724 GBDF = Gx
VI= 6135 ACEG = Am7
VII= 7246 BDFA = B1/2o There is NO B+ B+= B D# G A

To whom it may concern

(F#) Im IV1/2o IIIM bVm13 bVIIo+5 II9 V+5-9
(bV) bII VI-9 Ix+5 etc. etc.
:)

Hey rick, I've enjoyed what I've read of your journey, but am more interested in the part where I start to get something out of it. That said, carry on however you need to. No problem. I'll probably still read a lot of it.

However, how about including some of that lengthy prose to explain what the heck this is? You like to type - so tell me how to use this info here. Without some interpretation, for many of us (especially theory noobies), it might as well be binary code.

He is listing chords, diads, and inversions in a given key, notated by the interval of each note:

C major = C D E F G A B

thus

1 = C
2 = D
3 = E
etc.

a C major chord is C E G, which is the first, third, and fifth interval.

thus:

CM 13 15 31 35 51 53 135 153 315 351 513 531

is every possible combination of those notes, both diads and inversions.

. . . and so on.

Some of his notation is nonstandard, such as:

V= 5724 GBDF = Gx
vs the standard G7

IV= 4613 FACE = FM7
is too easily confused with Fm7, and is thus usually Fmaj7

VII= 7246 BDFA = B1/2o
for diminished, you do have o in standard usage, but as a seventh chord should be o7, more typically for guitar you see dim7. This is a half-diminished chord however, since it has a b7 and not the diminished bb7. Thus it should be ø7, or for guitar, m7b5. B1/2o7 is difficult because numbers ordinarily refer to intervals, and the slash usually denotes an inversion or bass note:

C/G - C major chord in the second inversion (G C E)
C/D - C major chord with a D (techically the ninth) as the root note, probably also inverted (D G C E on guitar, perhaps)
