Im very new at this so please bare with me. The programs I currently have are sonar xl 2.0, fruity loops and cake walk. The hardware I have right now are... just this PC haha! Anyway, i read through some of the threads and I see that a majority, if not all here record rock related music. Now my question is, the setup, mics, and equipments you guys use to record only performs best with rock music or would it be alright to use the same setup for others as well and get the same sound, etc such as hip hop and others? Thanks in advance.

I'm just foolin, yo. Sound is sound and while different styles call for specialized techniques, Hardware like Sound cards and analog Mackie Mixers don't care what sound is coming out of them or going into them. The requirements you have from these products may vary greatly however. Think about what you need to do in order to achieve you goals. Do you need eight simultaneous ins? Probably not.

2cents.
