I don't know how this keeps happening but I keep getting two track readings (L/R?) for tracks in my waveform displays! Is there a way to toggle back to a single track view?

you are such a knob! You recorded all of those tracks as STEREO!!, you need to record them as MONO..(when you choose recording device.. choose r OR l.. NOT stereo)...

as for now, you can go into the edit mode and convert type to mono, if you like.

I looked at that screen shot and thought: "I wonder why he's recording everything in stereo?"

Gee, I haven't heard anybody called a knob in such a long time. Camn, you're such a tool. :D

'aight that was prolly the most stupid question i've heard yet at 'dis forum.. hehehehee..
Yeah.. recording mono might turn out to be a cool idea :D

 at 380+ posts, and some change...and not knowing about mono tracks in cooledit....I see a pattern developing...

I still wanna know, how didja get the cooledit screenshot as a .gif file [or jpeg]?? do I need to have more posts?? :D maybe I should I have known that 100 posts ago:(

Ok up yours cammie! :D

No I didn't record that way butt cheese, I mixed down in stereo. I had a dozen or so tracks with like dozens of takes and punch ins so I thought I'd clean house by mixing down each track (to stereo duh) and editing the mix down then saving to a new folder/ session.

As for the rest of you I'll deal with you later.

How come they looked like mono stereo mixes with equal left and right channels? (like they are they same) ....'cept "Rats vox 2"...the upper channel is recorded a little lower. Looks like a mono send to a stereo track with the levels different there.

hahahah!!

Well, in that case, oh-knobber-of knobbers, you just need to mix down to mono to avoid those pesky stereo waveforms!

OR, for each track, go to EDIT VIEW and CONVERT SAMPLE TYPE, .. and chose MONO as your output.

xooxo

rats, you have way too much spare time.. what do you do in between yo' dobbs-storys, tripple mixdowns and smiley posts???...

Hmmm....
Would you believe I manage a team of analysts/ trade consultants for the largest importer in the U.S.? Don't worry I wouldn't either. I'm a dad too. But mostly I'm whack. Only in the U.S. my man!

Recording in Stereo

Say you have a keyboard that has stereo outs.. what's wrong with recording that as stereo?

Charon
I record everything in stereo and only work with 600megs..
that makes my qualify for the title "genius" I think..
lol.. or maybe - "insane"

I record everything in stereo because I find it sounds better than mono (which is what I used to do) and you don't have to waste time converting..

;) Nothing is wrong with recording in stereo... unless you are like Rats and want to "toggle" back to mono..!

oh, and if you record a mono instrument in stereo... it doesnt sound better. If you think it does, its just your mind playing tricks on you...

oh, and if you are mixing down ANYWAY... you can just mixdown to Stereo.... and never "waste time" converting your tracks... it actually mixes down FASTER, too... cuz it has to deal w/ less samples.

but keep on recording in stereo.. it does make it easier to apply stereo effects .../?
