Do a search for it and you will get many results. Most are probably what you don't want to hear.

Just give the money you were gonna spend on a Berhinger to charity... at least you'll feel good about yourself!

Man Save a bit and get something used or an Allen & Heath or a Soundcraft or something.
I was kind of broke, in a hurry and new to the game and ALMOST made the Berhinger mistake myself, but thank goodness I was saved! Since then I have seen perhaps hundreds of negitive posts on various sites for different reasons about their gear.
I've looked at several Behinger boards and having just picked up a Tascam M312B (For just $300!) I was blown away at the difference in quality build and features.
I bet I could whack my board with a bat and it'd still work... I've heard you can just about give a Berhinger fader a dirty look and it'll be scratchy the next day.
( No offence to any Berhinger owners here. If it works for you, or works great for what you could afford then awesome..(I'm sure alot of you guys put out sweet Mp3's or CD's with their boards and no one (especially me) could tell the difference, BUT in my case, well heck, I was eating every combination of Ramen noodle known to man for a few long months to get a board and I didn't do it for nothing and I sure as hell didn't do it just to have to settle for something that didn't do everything I wanted and/or needed to do and do it rather nicely I might add....No way.)

Do yourself a BIG favor and don't take my word for it...
Look around this site or do a search here. Feelings are mixed, but it's like a 70-30 split at best.

Speaking as someone who has used one...

Here's some true info about the Behringer... actually just about all Behringers. Behringer mixers are a direct copy of Mackie mixers, only using cheaper components. I've actually owned the 24 channel version of the mixer you're looking at, and cracked it open for servicing. The parts and setup are IDENTICAL to the Mackie 24x8 - just the parts in the Behringer are lower quality, have more noise, and will break down faster. You'll get all the same 'features' though.

I believe with a little google searching you can find something published about this too - some lawsuit where this came out because Behringer had inadvertently copied a Mackie design flaw into one of their boards. You can definitely hear a difference between the Behringer and the Mackie though.

As for what sounds better than what? You'll have to figure that out for yourself. Keep in mind your budget and your application. Also, do you really need that many channels for a home studio? I'm not sure what kind of music that you're doing, but an Elektronika artist friend of mine used a Behringer board and his mixes sounded great. I am now using a Mackie though.

--Edit: I took another look at that Behringer you were talking about and it wasn't the mackie clone that I was thinking it was. The same basic principles about Behringer probably apply though.
