I am super curious what each of you use for your PREFERRED recording medium. .

What?
PC recording.

Why?
4 track cassette porta-studio had the cassette tape issues.
4Track Reel to Reel was requiring too much spin time and rewinds and tape hassle.
ADAT needed mixer & outboard gear hassle...
HD Roland V840 which sucked as far as being user friendly ..sucked.
MiniDisc 8 Porta studio was fun, porta-studio setup was simple.

really cool...HD user friendly stuff!
Tascam 2488 HD w/CDR was so easy to use, recording was truly fun and with plenty of tracks to keep jotting down rough takes.

but somehow started dabbling in PC recording, a several years later second attempt, and it worked, was cheaper, is easy, and challenging. EDITING.

The edit screen is big, the free plug-ins, and free recording platforms was er...FREE. decent sound quality, no tape hassles, and you can burn CD's fast...email the tune, etc...so many good things to mention.

PC recording platform is the "mirror like" Digital Recording of 24/48 or more..
get a few good mics and some 57's :D...

the new weak link (other than me :p), is the room these days.

capturing and creating a good tone and all that stuff, is still the fun part.

i'm all digital myself...but if i had the means, i would track to 2" and then convert the tape tracks to digital for editing/mixing
