#11: Shure Beta 52. You hit the kick, it goes boom. What's not to like?

#10: Shure KSM44. Never sounded bad. Sold it to a guy that already had a U87ai. He likes it too.

#9: AT4041. Technically I don't own these, the church does, but they work quite well as choir overheads. Thumbs up.

#8: Shure SM94. In the days before Portas had phantom power, this used an internal battery, like the AKG C1000S. Unlike the AKG, it doesn't have a nails-on-a-chalkboard sound. Very mellow.

#7: Sennheiser e609. This is like a paddle you can use to spank guitarists, who always need a spanking.

#4: Beyerdynamic M201. Can't be beat on toms and snare. Can be beat with a stick and still keep working.

#3: Shure KSM141. In omni mode, it's like a big stick of warm butter. If you've never owned an omni mic, buy this one. Yesterday. It has a cardioid mode as well if you suddenly revert to being a sissy.

#2: Beyerdynamic M88. No singer would ever willingly give up this mic. They would prefer to give you their vocal cords torn out of their throats.
