I recently bought the 49 key version. Same software, Proteus LE and I have been getting the exact same error message.

Anyone know the solution?

Sounds like a software bug/compatabilty problem. Has someone check for a software update?

I found my problem. Running Windows XP and using the Ableton Live software that came bundled with the Xboard. Not sure if this will work for you.

Windows had overwritten the Emu driver for the Xboard with it's own driver. The Proteus X LE that comes with the key controller is protected so the Xboard first has to be always connected and active before you load Proteus as a VST instrument.

Go to Hardware / Device Manager and check to see if the Driver is listed as EMU or a Windows driver. If not EMU, follow the instructions in the manual about installing the correct driver. You'll have to do it manually or Windows uses it's own.

I fixed it up last night and everything is running smoothly.

The Xbord Must Be On And Active Before Proteus Loads
