I thought that this was a good Zeppelin tune that I could handle... you don't want to know how much beer, sweat, & more beer it took to get through this thing. It was so much faster than I thought... I learned to appreciate Jimmy Page even more after doing battle here.

Two things to remember while listening:
1) I am not Robert Plant
2) I am not Jimmy Page

Listening on computer speakers, so I won't comment on the mix. Nice job. The guitar sounds crisp and clean, and the playing ain't bad either. Also sounds like real drums from what I can tell.

You are a lot closer to Page than Plant. Guitar sounds nice and full and cleanly played. The vocals, well...

I'll never understand why ANYONE would want to record a cover. Playing in a band and doing some covers I can see but why use energy/time/money/talent recording someone elses song? Boring and lame IMHO. I've heard some of the covers members have done in the past and it's cool I guess, but to dedicate a whole thread to it is just in poor taste.

Well this is the MP3 Mixing Clinic forum, not the original music forum.
I have learned a great deal about recording / mixing, just recording originals and trying to replicate songs. Yeah they are covers but everyone puts their own twist on things, and I think its fun to listen to them.

Can you be any MORE uptight??? Music is there to enjoy. Everyone enjoys it their own way. Doesn't look like you're capable of enjoying anything, I feel sorry for you. Sometimes after writing, recording, mixing, etc...10 of my own songs in a row, it's a lot of fun to just do a song might be a favorite of mine. Why that bothers you so much, I don't get. Loosen up, life is too short...Poor baby.

Didn't mean to sound uptight I'm actually the oppostite (most of the time anyway). I just get frustrated when I hear talented people record unoriginal music. I've played with so many people in all types of bands and I rarely see peoples true passion thru a cover, it just doesn't do their talents justice. I re-read what I wrote and I did sound like a dick (sorry) but I'll reiterate and say covers are good for practicing technique (and maybe stealing an idea or two from) but to actually spend valuable time recording/mixing/producing one seems to me like a waste of time. Why even be a musician if your gonna be unoriginal. You spend all that time practicing just to play other peoples music. Maybe you just don't have the confidence... maybe you don't have the balls...or maybe your talent isn't talent at all but justa heightened state of mockery...I don't know what the deal is. With all the nonsense in the media, why waste energy on here-and-gones when you can create the next era of music starting here and now. Jump off the ledge, leap from the cliff and fly into peoples hearts and minds with what can pour out of you as a unique individual. That's all I was trying to say...

Some of these are recordings people did years ago and they just happen to have them on tape or disc. In some cases, like mine, I write my own music all the time. So ONE TIME, I decided to do a song I've always loved. I have all the time in the world and enjoying what I do. I don't pay for studio time, so there's no waste of money or time there...It set me back 3 whole days and then I went right back doing my own stuff...It was a nice break...No big deal, it's all about having some fun.

recorded from a show my old band did a couple years ago. Quality is ok. Man this brings back memories.

I played lead guitar.......BTW this wasn't our normal singer singing on this song........its the other guitar player, who for some reason insisted on singing this song even though he can't sing. ahhh ego's.....I guess thats why we are no longer a band.

I just try and keep it simple..........and pick songs that I feel I can play/sing, and also record well. If the song is just an acoustic guitar with some vocals Im golden! lol .........its when I get into drums and crap like that.....then my mixes are horrible.

All the originals I write (and never really finish) are pretty much the same way.
Just really simple stuff
