Man, I was pretty proud of my version of "Sympathy for the Devil" when I posted earlier today, but there are some awesome covers in this thread. Regardless of what some musicians might think about doing covers, they are fun to do and some people here have posted some excellent stuff.

dachay2tnr, Dogman, RAMI

Thanks alot guys! I have never considered myself a singer lol, more of the lead guitar player type but I am getting more and more confidence when it comes to singing. I did all of the tracks, vox, hormonies, keyboards, and guitars.

Thanks!

I will listen to the rest of the cover's and post comments in a couple minutes.

OK, I just uploaded "SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL" on my Soundclick page. Not sure if they'll take it down or not. I have the written permission to use it from EMI, but they might need to see that before letting me leave it up.
I did this a bout a year and a half ago with not as good gear and less recording knowledge, so it's not the best recording, but was still fun to do.

Wow! I actually like this better than the original lol......awesome job. Did you do all the instruments? Excellent guitar work.

Ok, here's the second song I recorded, last year, after getting my digital 4 track. Hadn't played in many years, and had to try this one....and I tried to sing, not yell... :D

Traffics Dear Mr. Fantasy:

Blows, but man, fun to play...

Enjoy.

I liked this Dogman...........I don't know why you said it blows????
I digged the guitar solo. Very cool!

Ok, Here's one my band did back around 92, we were putting together some demo stuff and we recorded this on my Yamaha 4 track, Last year I pulled it into the DAW and messed with it...

It's Brown Eyed Girl...

The drummer is singing and I'm playing the piano and main guitar.

Enjoy!

Cool. I like the guitars, nice and clean. Not sure I like the way the BG vox are panned hard left. Was that a limitation of the 4-track? Lead voc is a little off key in parts, but overall a real nice job.

For the Yes fans...

Siberian Kathru.

Sorry...it's a long tune so it's a big file.

Thanks, I'm not sure if I can pull the BG vox more center or not, I'll have to check that out.

The drummer was not a strong vocalist and we pretty much did this in one shot. But his playing more than made up for his lack of vocal ability. Everything he played looked totally effortless......

I have some other stuff from the old 4-track cassette days.... maybe I'll dig some of it out.

Dogman.. thanks for the kind words.

BTW, I'd love to colab on something with someone....

This is great.... I'm not familiar with this Yes tune but the first thing that came to mind was Dixie Dregs....lol and then when the vocal came in, please don't take this wrong, but I got visions of Wierd Al singing.. please let it be known I love Wierd Al... so it is a compliment.

Nice job playing and recording and mixing......

Close to the Edge is one of my ALL TIME fave Yes albums so I had to bite the bullet and pull this up on my work computer using the cheap PC speakers...

Awesome!!! I can't wait to hear it at home...

Did you midi the keyboard tracks? What did you do for drums?

I couldn't get too much of the details because of my listening arrangement but I'm very impressed!

:D

Well, I found this floating around on my host so I thought I would contribute...

I have a friend who used to host an online pool league on Yahoo called 'Yahoo Pool Addicts'...
She made her own little web site for her members and asked if I would help her with a theme song... She had already re-done the lyrics to the song she felt would best represent her group and requested some music...

I found a cheap little midi file online, piped it through my Proteus 1, added live guitar, bass, drums and vocals (her lyrics) and sent it back to her...

Forgive me Father for what they are about to hear...

My apologies to Robert Palmer fans...

Out On The Tiles

I thought that this was a good Zeppelin tune that I could handle... you don't want to know how much beer, sweat, & more beer it took to get through this thing. It was so much faster than I thought... I learned to appreciate Jimmy Page even more after doing battle here.

Two things to remember while listening:
1) I am not Robert Plant
2) I am not Jimmy Page

Real fun jam!

Doesn't blow at all - I like it better than the original :)

What a waste of time and energy...*yawn*

Wow...you recorded a song you didn't write...yippee *yawn*

I'll never understand why ANYONE would want to record a cover. Playing in a band and doing some covers I can see but why use energy/time/money/talent recording someone elses song? Boring and lame IMHO. I've heard some of the covers members have done in the past and it's cool I guess, but to dedicate a whole thread to it is just in poor taste.

Boo!!!Hiss!!!

OK, climb into the wayback machine, Mr. Peabody. A cover of an early '60's song.

Going Out Of My Head

(Last one on the page.)

eeeeewwww, this is great. It reminds me of when I was around 12 and the Tigers game was over, and I lay in bed listening to a show on Detroit's WJR called "Night Flight 760", dreaming of what it would be like to squeeze Vanessa's boobs.

Alas, I never got to squeeze them.

Song sounds great :)
