What, and also hope that people will actually *read* a bit in the forum before posting, or, god forbit, do a search??????

Oops, I think I busted a gut on that one :)

Nah, we are eternally destined to red the same questions time and time and time and time again. Or at least we will be until people stop responding to them, anyways.

Nah...people will always ask these questions. And besides one day the answer will actually change. Someone will come up with something better than the RNC or the RNC will go out of production. Our only hope is to continually breed new generations of posters who will take over the job of answering such questions. Either that or fix capitalism so that quality is directly proportional to cost.

I'd roll around naked in a bed of thumb tacks before I'd do that.
So then I guess we shouldn't suggest an Alesis 3630, even in jest! :D

I just dont understand why you guys all love it. I mean, it sucks plain as day. here come the negative rep points, but I don't care anymore. I can't stand to read another thread about how great it is. and the funny part is that you guys all actually admit that it sucks at like, half the things you would want a compressor for. but there's nothing in the same price range thats better? come on. those dbx's are solid. they can handle a bass and a full mix too. your rnc can't.

I would use a dbx for bass, maybe. I wouldn't use it for anything else.

Solid shit, yes.

By "handle", do you mean "suck the life out of make muddy as hell"? If so, I agree.

Seriously, that cheap dbx stuff is horrible. The 266 series "clicks" when the compression kicks in, even at low ratios. The 166 series completely sucks the life out of anything you put into it. The only think its great at is creating a pumping muddy pile of shit.
