I got a couple of ART tube MPs today, recorded some tracks, but the sound isn't much different - if anything, I prefer the sound through the solid state preamps of my mixer. I must be doing something wrong.

I'm recording two mics simultaneously, one through each ART obviously.

My question's about the phase reversal function on the ART. The manual says: "In multi-microphone applications, placement can affect the phase of the signals. If your sound is 'thin' or 'out' of position, reverse the phase to correct the problem." Hmm... reverse the phase of one of the preamps or both, I wonder. Anybody have any experience of this?

dobro - don't forget about the 3 foot rule - keep stereo image mics at least 3 ft from each other - otherwise try previewing each track seperately mono and both together mono - if two tracks are less than one or scooped sounding just reverse the polarity of one mic - preferrably the "distant" or second mic. w/ singer songwriters(1 mic vox 1 mic acoustic) reverse the non vocal. Happy tracking!!
