hi, i am very interested in building my own home studio.. i am a musician and have always had an intrest in recording and producing.
several years back i had a friend who had a studio and he was using an aardvark q10, and i was really impressed with it. since i have lost contact with him..anyways my question is, i wanted to get one for myself but found out that they are no longer in biz anymore.. i see some on ebay but with them not being in biz there would be no service or support i guess.
anyhow i am wondering if anyone can steer me in the direction of something comparable to the aardvark, possibly under 500.00 or so??

again i am just starting out but i like the fact that if i want to mike up a whole drumset i can do that.

what i would like to do is use my computer with the ardvark and software to start.. would i need anything else besides this to start recording?
thanks for your time.

Echo Audiofire 8 (you would need additional mic preamps for a set)
Presonus Firepod
Mackie Onyx mixers
Delta 1010 and small mixer

Depends on the connection options you have (firewire/usb/pci/etc)

I have an Aardvark and it works very well with Windows 98. I've tried running it on Win XP, It isn't worth the pain. But if you really want it I'd make you one hell of a deal. But personally I think you would be better off with some of the newer equipment that is available. You would get better results with up to date technology.

I'll have to go down to the studio the check what version my driver is
