Just finished up this track and you can find it at the top of the list at The Trinity Project | Edmonton, AB, CA | Alternative / Acoustic | Music, Lyrics, Songs, and Videos | ReverbNation ....it's called "The 99 cent revolution (The nananana song) you will understand why when you hear it .

As far as it goes , I did EVERYTHING as usual .....nothing is synth in the song .....all percussion is real......gear list too long too go through unless you ask for it . All I can say is that I am an oldschool creamware (sonicore) user .....

Enjoy the song , this one was a four day haul - generally I can get most of my songs done in a day but this one is truly special .

goooood song, lots of energy, well arranged and performance is spot on.

My only suggestion is the drums need more life. The snare sounds a little flat or overly compressed, or just subdued. I'm a tad bit confused on how to suggest a fix. The song has a strong driving beat and the drums should be a bigger part of it, but they don't sound bad where they are now. Maybe try it with snare and hihats a little louder.

Or, don't change a thing and this song still rocks.

Greatly appreciated info And thanks for the compliments ....yes I totally agree with the drums . I went a little unconventional on this one ....I micd a 57 to the bell and to the snare .....two c 1000s as OV , a 4033 directly over my head which surprised me with how much I got out of it . I also didn't close mic my toms....I used an nt2a in figure 8 two pic up my large toms and placed it so it nulled out the cymbals - it worked well .

I used extensive amount of multiband and drum bussing to hard comps (Kick and snare parallel comp) .....the overhead bus I left on the low side as I didn't want to muddy up the prominent snare and kick . I could raise that a smidge and do some high cut to get a little more snare and a little more highhat .

Overall I will bump the CL2A up a db or a bit then that should solve the problem.

The Snare is being driven down a bit with a transient tool .....but my gate had a quick attack giving me a little to much snap so I should address that.

Overall there are a few clicks I have to eliminate , still another day of mixing . But yes you were very helpful with your observations and I thank you for that

I agree on the drums. There is an opportunity to come in with the drums Foo-Fighters strong! Listen to 'Rope' to see what I mean. The kick and snare need to kick it after the cymbal taps. The groove is good, just need balance. Maybe a bit less compression on the drums too. you might have to notch the guitars and bass to get the drums to the front of the mix.
