Hey yall,

Just another quick question.

Anyone know how I can achieve that thick, fat 80's snare drum sound?

Along the lines of Def Leppard?

If anyone could answer this that would be great!

Thanks alot!

if all else fails, you can always replace with a snare sample that sounds exactly like the sound you want.

sounds like cheating, but it's done all the time...

well, you could sample your own from a recorded example, but most people just use a sound from a CD sample library, a drum module, or a synth that contains drum samples. There are also many software programs with extensive drum sound libraries.

Well, an electronic device Measures the voltage of the signal you pit into, many many times a second. This measurements are stored in memory as numeric values. They are then reproduced on the output to recreate the signal. If you reproduce them in a shorter time than they were measured, it increased the pitch. If it is reproduced at a longer time period, the pitch is lower.

awesome!
Thanks,

How do you actually apply the sample to the original sound?

Thanks alot everyone!

I believe all the Def Leppard drums and many other 80s rock bands used Linn Drums. They were one of the first triggered drum samplers. You can probably find samples of them on the net.

VoxVendor is our resident Mutt Lange groupy so he could probably give you more details.
