Wondering if anyone knows how to get that Electronic Voice effect? You hear it in R&B and rock songs, Ive heard nickleback, kidd rock, Akon and others use this effect. not sure if its a mic or not is there a VST plugin that can do this? do you even understand what im talking about? lol anyways any help is much appreciated thanks

You're probably talking about autotune, it comes as a plugin or as hardware and is made by Antares.

It's intended use is to subtley fix pitch errors but with more extreme settings you can get noticeable, robotic sounding effects.

You can get similar sounds with vocoders.

not sure how to post a clip, but one song its in is, T-Pain "Im in love with a stripper" Right on the part were he says "The way you break it down I see you Girl" you can hear it there, one time i heard nickleack do this was on stage he had like a huge round microphone thing he did it through..

Kevin nailed it: auto tune

im not exactly sure what you are asking about.

it could be autotune..

but a cool effect i like is to put, like a guitar effect such as SansAmp plugin, or amplitude, and then distort the voice a tad here and there. set up some automation with turning it on and off.

makes a cool effect i think. not sure if thats what you are lookin for.

I think this is the eighth time someone asked that this month.

hmm, its possible.

keeps me active on here though.. plus i look smart :)

The effect can be created with auto-toooon but he's talking about a vocoder. Roger Troutman was the king of the vocoder. There are several keyboards and hardware boxes that will give you this effect (check ebay) or there are several plugs that will do this too. I think the one that Glen referenced will work but I can't speak for the quality. Vocoders quality varies greatly.
