TFPRO (Ted Fletcher) - Better option than ProMeek?

Not that it is particularly important, but TFPro have indicated that at least two of the products (excluding Ed the Comp), have undergone upgrades as opposed to the JM models they replaced. To the average person reading their spiel, it would likely appear that there is little similarity between the internals of the JMs and their TFPro counterparts.................if it is these units that are using the JM pcb's, you have to wonder just how much difference there really is.

As far as the legalities involved, it really is a waste of time discussing it here...............if TF has been telling porkies and being a naughty boy, then he will get his wrist smacked, if the opposite is true...........I'm sure he will let the world know about it.

Which ever way it goes, we will find out all in good time.

Bad example... there are lots of motors that were built by "other" manufacturers in cars... and it ain't part of the marketing materials...

Agreed, but they had permission to use the motors!

Absolutely... which is the real point of contention... not whether or not they used them, but whether or not they were authorized for their use.

You don't need BMW's permission to put a BMW motor in a Chevy. If you buy the motor, it's yours. You can do whatever you want with it.

You can't buy a new Chevy and "promote" the car as a Chevy if it has a BMW engine, unless BMW give you permission to market it that way. Sure, you can do anything you like after market. If Chevy have an agreement with BMW to promote a specific Chevy that is using a BMW motor, that to is legal.

In this case, TFPro is promoting a TFPro P3 unit as a TFPro P3, but they use a Joemeek VC3Q pc board without the permission of Joemeek, that is illegal. Add to the fact they they attempt to scratch off the Joemeek trademark name just adds to the coverup.

If you recall, Aphex sued Behringer because the pc board not only was labeled Aphex, but it was the same pc board Aphex used. Of course Behringer copied it and used it without permission, and promoted that the unit was a Behringer. Aphex won!

Why not? What right of BMW's does that violate? Trademark? Copyright? Patent? I don't see it.

Why? Did they steal the VC3Q boards? Do you think every maker of preamps/cars/toasters/whatever has to get the express permission of all of their parts suppliers to incorporate the parts into their products? I don't think so.

But there's the rub. Is TFPro/Chevy using VC3Q/BMW boards/engines, or are they making copies of VC3Q/BMW boards/engines?
