Textured Drywall

I'm in the finish drywall phase of the studio. I opted for a textured drywall finish ( easier for me to cover up my inexperience as a finisher). It looks like stucco, or the interior of an olive garden according to my wife. I never thought about this until after i was done, but will that help or hurt sound at all? i thought i may diffuse if anything, but then thought it would really make much difference.

That sort of texture is too shallow to have any acoustic effect, good or bad.

Cheap treatment

A chep solution to help...egg cartons...cheap and you get them reguarly so filling out the areas will help...

Welcome to the site, EdShultze. Egg cartons do nothing acoustically. They will make your room look like crap, though.

Search through the Studio Building forum for "egg cartons" and see what you pull up.

My room has the stucco-type texture also. As Ethan said, it has no affect. I've got 16 rigid fiberglass panels in my tiny 10'x11' room and it seems to work well.

oh I plan on using rigid fiberglass, i just didn't know if the texture would have an effect. I normally wouldn't ask, but it seems like everything you do makes a difference.
