Hi_D_Ho_Man

Tha' So & So ,So & So
This is my first completed Midi/Digital/PC recording attempt. Let me know what ya'llz think of it. Made with an XV-5050 and Cubase 5.1

I intend to add some change ups mainly with the subbass and drums.

I noticed its not as loud as the beats posted by other folk up in here. How can I do the same with good quality???

Just normalize it.

Or, better yet, just turn everything up a little bit louder in the mix and then normalize slightly.

Or use some gentle compression on the master output(either from cubase or from the module).

Here's another idea....just mix everything with the volume kind of low, but turn it up every now and then to make sure you don't have something extremely loud..

Those are some of my techniques....when you aint got nothin, ya gotta improvise big-baby .... .... .....ImPrOvIsE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice trck....

Like the way it intros particulary the bassline....
Then the main piece is emotional....

Agree with Atillah's recommendations...

You also must keep in mind each indivdual sound may need some type of treatment (compressor/FX/parmetric eq/ etc....) Working at the stereo mix level sometimes isn't enough......

Keep em comin....

Really diggin' that track - nice job there.

One quick question 4 any1, tho'

When ur exportin' a track as an MP3 what bit rate should you use and what quality?

I know that 128 and Medium quality is standard MP3, but what about something like "near-CD" quality?

(Got some beats comin' - yea', I'm gettin' there juz' need 2 touch up on them + mix, then I can start puttin' tha flowin' on)

Hi_D_Ho,

Nice track man. Kind of mellow track here, I like the bass line and the string section in the hook. I hear you on the level issue, but the advice provided already should get that covered for you.

I checked out "They Like It" too (not sure is you wanted us to or not). I'm not really feeling that beat. Not enough of a bass line and the drums are kind of weak as well.

Abyss,

I'm not sure I understand your question. Are you asking if 128 is the bit rate you should use? This the bit rate I normally use but it depends a few things. First, the higher the bit rate the larger the file. This is why most people will not use a 320 bit rate, the file would be huge. On the same token, the higher the bit rate the better the quality. I doubt most of us could tell the difference between a wav and an mp3 at 320. 224 sounds pretty damn close as well.

Here's an example of a 100 kb file I encoded at 4 different bit rates.

320 - 26 kb
224 - 18 kb
160 - 13 kb
128 - 10 kb

Now this is obviously a small file. Stereo wavs usually take up about 10 mb a minute. You figure an average song is 3:30 and that's 35 mb a song. Using 128 you'd end up with a 3.5 mb file. Using 320 you'd end up with a 9.1 mb file and spend the whole day trying to upload it. Of course there's room between the two, but 128 is ideal for maintaining quality and keeping file size to a minumum.

Hope this helps.
