Anyone here use a Terratec sound card?
i just got a phase 88 card for $299.00.
8 ins/8 outs and a breakout box with 10 ft cable. i love it! great sound and latency is near 0! i'm buying another one next week to go 16 tracks.

Did you have any problems installing your card. What settings on your PC and s/w did you make. I've been struggling with my Terratec Card for about 2 weeks. I've been getting decent help from Terratec when I get a chance to call them, but no luck.

What did you do beyond the installation instructions. My problem is when I record I get a steady sizzle or static sound in the background. It sounds like eggs are frying.

i had no major problems. I have a 1ghz pc with 384mb ram. i have nothing in the pc but the card and recording software. no modem, no games, nothing else, it always works best with a dedicated pc. at first i had some popping sounds but after changing the clock in the phase88's control panel to 'external' my problems vanished. i also made all the bufffer settings in both cakewalk guitar studio 2 a bit higher. are you going directlyinto the card or through a mixing board? i'm using an outboard mixer. also make sure boith the control panel and your other software are both set to 44.100khz or whatever you record at.

Interesting. So you set your clock to external. I have two Terratec cards a EWS88D and the phase 88. The EWS88D is the master card and Phase 88 the slave. I have the EWS88D's clock set to internal and the Phase 88 is automatically set to External.

I tried your suggestion and set the EWS88D to external and all the noise on the Control Panel's digital Mixger Input screen did vanish. This is progress. What type of mixer are you using. There is no clock on the mixer... does that matter.

I'm using a Yamaha MG 10/2 mixer. When I set the EWS88D's clock to external Cubase does not get an input signal.... I believe I may be missing something with Cubase SX settings.

i'm using a behringer mx3282a analog mixer. i only use the pc for a recorder period. glad you've made some progress. did you alter the jumper setting on the cards and use the sync connection cable included with the phase88? yeah the're may be some setting in cubase that will fix the other problem. good luck.

Fucksia, it's sad, when you think your post count reflects how much someone knows about recording.

Is that the same general way you feel, when someone says "I've got an 8" penis" so you figure they know that much about fucking as well?

Get off my jock.

They compare favorably to M-Audio cards and use the same converters.

I recommend Terratec. They make very good products and customer support is good as well.

And yes, there is an audible difference in sound quality between 16 bit and 24 bit recordings. The differences are barely audible unless you know what you're looking for though. But to say the sound is more 3 dimensional, kind of sums it up in my opinion.

Because if you are, you'd be hearing the difference, or, maybe you just don't have ears for shit.
Either way, your losing out, because you can def hear the difference.
