Hi Guys

I've just pruchased a mint condition Terratec EWS88MT on ebay for £100 after deciding not to replace my broken blackface ADAT

Anyone have opinions of these cards, have I made a wise choice ?

I have owned mine for about a year and a half and i love it. I have been around the block with it a few times but overall, Iv been quite satisfied. Im not sure what the price converts to in USD but i paid $399 for mine. The newer version (Phase 88) is only $299. Let me know if you have any specific questions...or if you decide to sell it...:)

Hey dude, works out that I paid about $160 for it in your money ;)

Is there a way I can stack two of these to give 16 tracks ?

Ooh I just did some searching and you can

Brilliant, I may go down that road in the future, looks like all users of the card are very pleased and looks like i got a good price.

The EWS88 cards use a synch cable for multiple cards. I have a EWS88D (digital I/O: no mic connections) and I can link 2 together. One is then master, the other slave, and in the Control Panel you can designate the Master as word clock Master or an external source (the Control Panel displays as pages, one for each card). Terratec had the latest drivers at their website, the last time I looked. I don't have a link on this computer but you can do a search on Terratec and find it.

Hey you guys!!

I just bought an EWS88MT too (after a bad trip with MOTU), and I have a question...

I'm using it with n-Track, and it's fine. One thing- it only lets me use it with the ASIO driver. It's fine, but it's a limitation. Is this your experience?

The other item is that I also use Cool Edit Pro to edit, arrange, etc., and the EWS88MT unit ("you nit!") will not deliver any sound when I'm in this app. I have thoroughly rifled the Settings in CEP, no help. It doesn't appear to give up any sound with n-ything, in fact, besides n-Track (sorry about that- a little joke of mine. Heh-heh...). Is it XP? or is it- dare I mention... my VIA KT-3200 chipset, which is billed as very good for audio apps?

I have a suspicion that the newer OS and components that are supported by it might not be so friendly to older peripheral hardware. Am I off-base here?

Help me quick- before I set my High-Intensity Laser-Burning Sloom-Ray upon this poor defenseless little box!

Thanks...

hey there,,
i have one of these cards, and i love it,,,,but it seems to have a thing goin on where it prioritises a program and thats it,,

if im working in vegas,,,and i open media player,,,,it wont play, unless i disarm all tracks in vegas,,,,minimise it,,,,then open media player,,

likewise,,if i click back to vegas then,it wont play cos media player has prioroty,,

ive just got into the habit of dropin mp3s into vegas tho,,,,,much handier!

Since this post you responded to got put up, I've gotten a thing or two figured out with it. Unfortunately, I haven't had my music PC for about 2 months+ now, and when it comes back I'm going to have to get re-acquainted with it's operations and settings- this after re-installing everything and setting it up for my workflow, which is still forming!

Anyway, when I get it back together I'll come back and tell you what I did to make it work between programs. Meanwhile, lpdeluxe might have an angle on this for you. Look 'im up, and tell him Stewbone says 'Hi!'.

Peace.

how is that a limitation?
