Hi from Italy
I'm using for the first time Cubase SX 1.02 and I've got a big problem: when I record multiple tracks (not simultaneously, one after one) they always are not in tempo.

Example: I recorded with my acoustic guitar the chord for a song, then I put the solo with the electric guitar and it's wasn't in tempo, I'm sure the registration was ok!!! I tried to set up this thing changing the offset but I don't like to do this, why must I do it???
It's out of about 0,1 - 0,2 seconds.

I tried a lot of time but some problem is always there, the same problem with MidiFile with metronome if I change the tempo....

I'm a guitarist but I passed from Cooledit to Cubase 'cause I wanted to use the Midi interface so I thought I could do a lot of thing with a friend of mine who plays a keyboard, but what will happen when I'll try to match tempo of keyboard and PC if the PC can't stand alone!!!

I got a Pentium Celeron 600, quite old computer with XP on and a SBlive Value, all this thing maybe are too oldish to stand???

HELP ME!!!

Your Out!

Seriously though, with the right tweaks and overclocking you may be able to record some with this system but you're at the very edge of the low end. I think it came out with 128mb of ram so you might want to look into increasing that. Personally I think you should look at a Pentium system for the high performance you need in recording.

The tempo problem may be a result of the way you record e.g. changing the metronome on tracks or the sampling rates. It all guessing without knowing more about how you are recording. Does this happen when mixing only 2 tracks? -3? - 4? Does adding effects make it worse?

hmm

are you sure it's not a latency problem? i'm new to cubase also but, i don't see logically how the tempo would automatically be different for each track. if you open up a new project with the 24 track recorder layout each track should be set at the same tempo. i haven't came across a setting to offset each track by default. i know that you can go into each track manually and do some adjustments, but i personally have not seen an option for cubase to do this.

to do a little trouble shooting you can open up cubase with a blank layout. open up one track and record something. open up another track and record the same thing. you should then see if it is a tempo or a latency (timing) problem. i don't know how familiar you are with latency but, if you have to slide the track over to sync up then it is latency.

i hope this helps a little. if it's latency then i may be able to help you cut down on that a little.
