Yep , and if you did anything to the overall compression settings on the main mix , it would effect it also. Whatever you did worked well.
Not sure I follow. That line (or a variation of it) and the underlying chord progression (F Fm C) is in the song several times. The first couple of times it appears, the progression goes to an Am directly following the C chord. So changing the C to Am would have it go Am to Am? Doesn’t make musical sense to me.This one made me tune my guitar lol...

To me, the C is a drastic break away from your opening descending riff. Lingering on the Am feels more natural, and reserves that "break away" for later.
