Flamingo!
I recorded this (horribly I might add) the other day. Sound doesn't do my guitar justice.
Anyway, tell me what you think!

Some impressive playing. Also some notes which didn't ring as well as they might but I couldn't play that so using my objective head to critique and not the envious oneThe bottom end of the recording could be tighter and punchier, also the spacial qualities of the hand beats is a real contrast to the actual playing as I'd have liked to have heard something more going on in the stereo plane to add presence to the performance. I appreciate that much recording is done where the aim is to have the surroundings not feature in the recording but I personally feel in this instance, I'd like to be aware of a spatial orientation while listening to the performance. I could listen to this kind of material for hours and admire the discipline required to play this style of music as opposed to own thumb over the top modal and blues influenced grounding which form the basis of my own playing. I like actually hearing a performance which when played on a good system allows me to get as close as possible to having the instrument played in my sitting room so I can gather many aspects of that performance through my own interpretation of the performer's execution of the piece, I think you could allow a listener a little more intimacy here and that is what I mean by enhancing the spatial aspects and perhaps even allowing yourself to be more present in the take to allow a discerning listener to gain more reward through a careful listening to the track.

A difficult piece to pull off for sure. My hat's off to you (well, if I wore a hat) for giving it a shot. The only thing I could gig you on is a few notes here and there where you "pick" too hard and you get that rubbery "plink" sound but that's easy to forgive on such a difficult piece. Real good job playing.
If it was me, I'd be trying to do three things next time: play it better, tweak mic type/position, get a better room. Of course, it won't be me, cuz I can't play anywhere near as well as you.But it needs to be played cleaner - too many duff slappy notes. The sound's getting there, but I'd like it closer and more personal. How many mics did you use, and where did you place them? A slightly bigger/more reflective room would add some space to the sound too - this one sounds like it was recorded in a smallish, deadish space. If you keep at this, keep tweaking those three things, I can see you coming up with some tasty stuff in a while.
Lol thanks! Yes, I'm still trying to master the song. Almost! It was recorded with a :gasp: SM57 in a small room!
For me, I think the playing is the biggest thing to tweak at the moment.
